I can't understand it, when you look at Baines' record you have to question why he's not the main penalty taker over Lukaku.
But worse than that with Lukaku not on the pitch its a very, very strange decision to let Barkley take it over Baines.
I don't blame Barkley btw and thought he had a decent game aside from his penalty and it's good that he wanted the responsibility and was confident enough to step up.

I though barkley had a decent game. Still a way off from last season's form, but looked like the confidence was coming back. It was a strange on with baines on the pitch and such a good record from the spot.

Baines hasn't taken a penalty since he finally missed one. Not sure if it is his own confidence or the Manager is being a pleb.

as much chance of anyone having a PK saved or missed.
Must admit I would have Baines on them unless he doesn't want to?

Who knows?! Maybe Baines has thrown his toys out of the pram after the Mirallas incident and said 'sod it I'm not taking them at all then'

It is either Baines has lost confidence or this time around at least as Barkley was playing better than he has done (more on that in a minute) perhaps it was to further boost his confidence and get him back playing how we know he can. Barkleys form is returning slowly because either by accident or RM finally seeing the light we have a holding midfielder (Barry) sitting in front of the back four, which is the same as last season, we are also now beginning to see the best out of McArthy again like last season. Having Lennon on form (point to prove perhaps) takes a lot of pressure off Coleman and in this last game at least with Mirallas also by inclination the type of player that runs at defenders we saw Baines finally having a cracker. Come on Roberto, no fear for this last 5 games eh.
