Memphis Depay?

We are in talks with him acording to the Echo and their source is a dutch journalist who has said the club (psv) have confirmed this. We are the only club in "official" talks but it was also mentioned the Utd boss LVG (former national manager of depay) has had a chat with him.

I have a feeling its grounhog day, ie mkyi..willian..sanchez etc and we will miss out again. How do we ensure they choose Liverpool over others? We are not (apparently) going to compete with cfc and city on the wages front and without CL its unlikely if a CL club comes in they will choose us. Its a catch 22 situation.

Torres, Alonso, Masch and Suarez were all world class players they left us far too early, we are not going to match the best teams unless we change something; on top that we now have a 20yr old stalling over a contract. I remember when players were lining up to sign for us....and we were never based in London either! We need a solution or we will only sporadically challenge for the to 4 etc.

Maybe the club just need to sign up a couple of top players on £150K pw and transfer fees in the order of £35M...I dont know, but apparently money talks.

This is what will happen with Depay:

1) Utd sign him. Liverpool fans say 'he's rubbish, you overpaid, we never wanted him anyway'. Utd fans say 'ha ha another great player signed while you settle for James Milner'.

2) Liverpool sign him. Utd fans say 'ha ha how much! He's rubbish we never wanted him anyway'. Liverpool fans say 'yes best young player in Europe, we are back'.

3) Neither of us sign him, he goes to PSG. Both sets of fans 'he's rubbish anyway, stupid mercenary just wants the money we never wanted him anyway'.

4) He stays at PSV. Both sets of fans say 'Hasn't he got any ambition? Ha what a mug this was his big chance, he's rubbish and we never wanted him anyway'.

The reality is he's a very good young player who could be the next RVP or Robben, then again he could be the next Babel or Afellay. Whoever gets him will have a good prospect with work to do.

More likely scenario is that we sell sterling, go in for Depay with lower offers which have slight increments to them over the summer.

Man Utd come in big and sign him, and we are left with no viable alternative and end up spending £18m on Ideye from West Brom

Someone got out of bed the wrong side this morning!

I actually reckon this is our attempt to nip in and sort it out quickly whilst there are still question marks at Utd around the futures of Di Maria, Falcao and RvP.

If we can't get this one wrapped up early then it's probably not happening. Can't see any room for fee faffing.

It'll be like Salah all over again.

Luckily this summer there's no World Cup or Euro tournament to delay potential signings.

I see ciro immobile has been mentioned again,is there anything special about this guy?He doesn't seem to be doing much for Dortmund.
I dont think we have had much luck with Italians in the transfer Balotelli,Aqualani,Dossena

my opinion is this will be yet another embarrassment

why:

1. If the guy has any sense or in particular his club has ANY sense they know time is on their side.

2. this has the classic outline of a bidding war move. psv will want clubs outbidding each other and his agent will want best return

3. If he's moving high probability is he has already lined up his real move and has long since known it.

This is not quite christian eriksen again.. how on earth LFc sat on thier hands whining then bought adam lallana!!! my god. 12 mil for the lad. I know he went a little stale at ajax as the league was so simple

But... it is a player in demand who's going to go for 25mil + and when two clubs are in the club offering 135k per week and cl football will win every time.

All LFC can do is bid the high bid now right away.. offer the high wage and hope to tie it up as fast as possible

Then sell sterling for 50mil and know his 100k off the club to offset it.... result would be great but we all know... it aint happening that way. lfc will offer 12 and spend 4 months negotiating then utd will swan in and buy for 18mil.. we will then switch to trying to buy a swansea or southampton player.

I predict jay rod who's not kicked a ball and will be bought injured by lfc.

Catch 22 is where a girl is so ugly you have to get blind drunk to even consider banging her but then not being able to get it up because you are so drunk. Also known as snatch 22

It's more of a catch 11 GB, he wont join Liverpool and Rodgers will bid £30m for Delph

Can't see Liverpool signing him.

If United come in for him, then its game over.
