Rodgers Presser today

Just saw Rodgers latest presser with James Pearce. He does not talk about who we are buying or selling but did say that we are already working on Summer signings. Looks like he is staying so no Klopp, Alardyce, Fergie or Pep coming in

Lallana is back in training but Sturridge, Lucas and Sakho (3 of our most important players) are still out

Here is the rest of the presser -

Rodgers: "Our ambition is to be better and plan forward, that means bringing in players in the summer. Plans to do that are well underway."

Rodgers on transfer committee: "There's no need to clarify. There's a group of people who will identify and recruit players just like at most clubs."

Rodgers: "I don't think there's anyone better (to manage #LFC). I have a strong relationship with the owners."

Brendan says the players have responded well in training: "The expectancy is huge, but I can't fault the players for what they give. Last week was a disappointment but they have worked very well in training."

Rodgers on ambition: "This is a club with ambition, that's why we have to strive to be the best. We want to be winners. I'm motivated to make sure we progress and make the next step."

Rodgers: "We will always strive to be the best. The reality is we want to be winners. I'm even more motivated to make sure we progress."

Rodgers on injuries: "Lallana has just come back in. We will see how he is. None of the others (Sakho, Lucas, Sturridge) will be fit. Jon Flanagan has come back into training, we will have to monitor him."

Just touching on something I have heard on the grapevine - We are monitoring Flanno's injury situation before offering a new contract. I also heard we are monitoring Lallana's injuries and may offload him to gain extra money to buy new with. Interesting.

Markovich will go on to be a quality player.

its his first season in a new league, hes young and hungry for success, give the kid a chance ffs.

He might go on to be a quality player, then again he might not. Ability is not the only variable that makes a successful signing.

I listened to an anfield wrap podcast the other day and they were talking about him being homesick.

Not too many attacking players from Serbia and further east have been very successful in England.

I personally feel we have bought him too early and he may flop.

Markovic looks a better player when playing on left than right but on left he's competing with Moreno, Sterling and Coutinho which makes him 4th choice. We may have to consider loaning him out to get proper games under him.

It's not about give the kid a chance. It is about seeing what you have and then buying sensibly. Seriously did we really need markovic and at that price when we had a player with potential already in Ibe. Just my thoughts on it.

@DanKennett: Finally some validation from Tony Evans on #LFC recruitment last Summer. The process was bypassed and Rodgers was allowed to name targets.

so you wont buy a player with potential because you already have one?

He was being talked up as the next ronaldo, so what, you dont buy rohim because you already have someone who is touted as the next john barnes at the club?

why not have barnes and ronaldo?

kid needs a run of games, he played pretty well in an unfamiliar position when he did.

and when he actually got played alongside coutinho behind the striker (Arsenal game) he actually carved them open on a few occasions.

Lack of patience with some fans, last summer everyone was saying sakho was gásh, now hes one of the first names on the teamsheet, players need time to settle

Which is a very different league to England.

Insert, you have been banging Markovic's drum all season but he has played well in about 5 games.

He didn't carve Arsenal apart numerous times at all. He played ok and messed up our best chance.

I have always rated Sakho so that point is irrelevant to me.

Markovic MIGHT get a lot better very quickly. There is no guarantee he will though, he could just as easily not get much better and we sell in him in a year for £12m.
