UFC 186, reviews and news.

So this weekend saw the latest "flagship" UFC numbered event, UFC 186.

Since UFC 185 (Pettis Vs Dos Anjos) what has happened? Well, we've had:

Fight Night 62 - Maia Vs Laflare - Not a lot to report, Erik Silva choked out Koscheck inside a round and Maia decisioned Laflare in a pretty tame fight. Nothing much to come from it, step up needed from Silva. Maia, not sure where he fits in the WW division to be honest...he's pretty bland when he can submit a guy.

Fight Night 63 - Mendes Vs Lamas - wins for Poirier, Guida, Chiesa & Iaguinta (although Al's win was very close...dubious maybe) and Mendes again proved he is #2 in the division after Jose Aldo...Would have loved to see Mendes/Mcgregor before he got Aldo.

Fight Night 64 - Gonzaga Vs Cro Cop 2 - A loss for Scotlands Joanne Calderwood dented her hopes of a title shot. A win for Jimi Manuwa in another bland fight. Had little interest in the main event, but a come from behind win for the old left head kick machine Cro Cop was decent to watch.

UFC on FOX 15 - Machida Vs Rockhold - Brandao almost ripped Jimmy Hettes ear off for a TKO win, win for OSP and a loss for Jim Miller. The lovely Paige Van Zant beat the lovely Felice Herrig and Max Holloway looked impressive against Cub Swanson. Jacare smashed Chris Camozzi in and Rockhold made Machida look like an amateur...quite impressive.

And to the injury & controversy hit 186. Poor show in my opinion. Few fights scrapped from the card, the Rampage/Bellator stuff too.

Wins for Cote, Almeida, Makdessi, Bisping & Rampage. Quite enjoyed the Bisping/Dolloway scrap...Almeida & Makdessi had decent finishes.

Johnson Vs Horiguchi was pretty much a Johnson type shut out on his way to a submission at 4:59 of round 5. Dodson next? Something has to happen to shake this division...Johnson is head & shoulders above the rest at the minute.

Other news.

Jon Jones arrested in relation to a hit & run in a rental car....ran back to the scene for a wad of $$$$$$ and there was weed and a weed pipe found in the car.

He's trying his best to ruin the unnatural ability he has inside the cage.

One FC champ Ben Askerns fight ended in round 1 due to an accidental eye poke.

Upcoming events:

09/05 - FN 65 - Hunt Vs Miocic
16/05 - FN 66 - Edgar Vs Faber, plus Mousasi & luke Barnett on the card
23/05 - UFC 187 - Jones Vs Rumble (Under threat???) plus, Weidman Vs Belfort, Cerrone Vs Khabib, Arlovski Vs Browne plus Benevidez, Dodson & Urijah Hall - Stacked card if Jones stays on it.

crazy stuff mate. wasn't sure if the UFC had the balls to strip their main man of the gold.

decent match-up in replacing Jones with DC...think JJ sits out his suspension (possible Jail time??) gets a shot at whoever is holding the strap and gets it straight back.

Or a possible move to HW on his return??

Have to say i'm a bit shocked that the UFC stipped him of the title, but I think it's the right desicion.

They will also know that there is big money to be made in a Jon Jones comeback a year down the road.

I think DC is actually a tougher match up for Rumble than Jones

shocked at this news, some lads cant handle money and fame, I thought Johnny Bones was but hes obviously struggling

Is Jones the greatest of all time now then? Or does he still have a way to go?

certainly damaged it, but he can still be the greatest if/when his comeback happens and how he acts going forward.

In other news Khabib is injured and Cerrone is looking for a new opponent.

in less than a week both the fights ive been looking forward to for months have been bent over and bumfecked off the card!!!

Yeah I know what you're saying mate for sure.

The fact he never lost the belt by being defeated will help in some respects. If he had been juicing or something like that then I'd agree 100% with what you're saying.

People who watch and follow these types of sport don't really care about out of the cage/ring incidents.

Look at boxing, Floyd has beat women and been to prison but still has a massive following & his past is very rarely mentioned in public.

I certainly agree that it has damaged it a lot...Im guessing the consecutive title defences record cant continue because his first fight back wouldn't be a defence...but could it carry on afterwards seeing as though he never lost? Consecutive title match victories could continue if his first fight back was for the belt?

I dunno the answer to your last question...after trying his hardest to be the most liked person on earth for the first few years...he has kinda gone loco...drugs, parties and now hit & runs.

I'd love to be in his position, with his talent....as would millions and millions of people...I hope he can get it together and carry on his legacy because he is really that good.

Maybe he'll move straight to HW upon his return? He could still become a 2 weight world champion, and could still finish his career "undefeated-ish" as the Hammil DQ doesn't really count. He has still beaten more former champions than anyone else?

So I think us fickle fans will forget this out of cage stuff and concentrate purley on his in cage accomplishments and ability.
