I personally believe that the "magic" of the FA Cup has been dissipated in recent years because of interest in European football. I seem to remember a year in the not too distant past when Man Utd did not even enter the competition because of game overload.
However, there is a proposal on the table to off the naming rights to Emirates Airlines for Β£30m. Does this sound right to you?
There is already a seedy stadium not too far away of that name. Does the "Emirates FA Cup" sound to have too much of an association with that club and do you think that if this goes ahead, the FA have a duty to look elsewhere for sponsors?
Perhaps more of our insitutions should have protected status like our buildings and our traditions protected. After all, there is opposition to Hull becoming the Tigers and the owners have been told they cannot rename the club. White Hart Lane sounds about right to me.
The "Nike Stadium"? Meh!!!
The "What" FA Cup

The FA cup has had numerous sponsors over the years, I couldn't give a monkeys who sponsors it next. Makes no difference to me. If we can win it then happy days, even more so with a tasty financial reward for us ππΎ

I can't imagine the FA would sign a multi-million pound deal just so they can give the winners of the FA Cup (more than likely an already wealthy PL club) more money.

The FA Cup should never be about money, it is the oldest & greatest cup competition in the World.
It used to be the only time you could get a game at Wembley was to either represent your country there or to get to either The FA Cup final or The Football League Cup final.
Now every opportunity the FA get they put matches on at Wembley. I am not denigrating the play offs, but they should not be at Wembley, they should be played at grounds like Old Trafford, The Emirates, Villa Park etc.
As Mr Chelsea said, we have so much football on television these days, we are spoilt for choice.
I occasionally watch matches from abroad but lose interest after a short while. As for PL matches I normally only watch Spurs live, with the odd other team occasionally.

I would think that the World Cup is somewhat bigger than the FA cup, as well as the European championships (and equivalents) and champions league.

Join the club Genius, I only ever watch Spurs now. The foreign games have no interest to me whatsoever, and the Prem is becoming boring. Haven`t watched a minute of CL footie this season, and probably will not. Saturated TV football has killed it for me.

On the contrary. I watch plenty of football rather than just watch Spurs. There are plenty of quality teams and players to watch

The FIRST FA Cup final was in 1872.
The first World Cup Final was in 1930.
The first European Cup Final was in 1956
The Champions League started in 1993.
I think the FA Cup definitely has seniority on its side.
It is universally broadcast around the World, which does not happen to any other domestic final from other countries.
The World Cup is no longer about football, more about who can bribe who & who gets rich off the back of countries aspiring to host it.
The Champions League has become a "behemoth", and the chances of an outsider winning it are very unlikely. You could probably pick four or five clubs capable of winning it under its current structure, and these would be the same 4-5 clubs every year with the odd interloper, which would still be one of the top clubs.

If I were a footballer I'd rather win the World Cup, European championships or champions league than the FA cup.
