The Jokes about Laliga are running out

With Robben ruled out for the season there is a good chance that we will have a Real Madrid vs Barcelona champions league final. The two finest club sides on the planet, with the best players and in a league of their own along with Bayern Munich.

Then you have a club side like Atletico Madrid, stripped of their players in the summer but still as functional or good as maybe chelsea and certainly better than the number two clubs in the premiership Arsenal & City. Then you have really impressive club sides like Valencia and Sevilla who I honestly believe are as good if not better than the likes of Spurs, Liverpool & Southampton.

I watched the Madrid Celta game at the weekend and the tackles in that game wouldn't go amiss in the premiership and the ref actually let a few go.The pace at which games in Laliga is played continues to grow and the game is as physical as ever.

If anything the gap is growing between laliga and the rest.

Is it possible just to have a reasonable discussion on this or does absolutely everybody have to go ott to make their point?

The PL isn't absent of all technique

La Liga isn't rubbish outside of Barca and Madrid

La Liga is the better league ATM in terms of quality but that is only really because of Barca and Real.

Atletico are having a good time recently, much like Dortmund, because their manager is doing a great job IMO.

The lesser teams in the premier league are better than the lesser ones in La Liga IMO but obviously top end its the other way around. This means the lesser teams in La Liga are made to look even worse because their top opponents are better than the premiership ones.

La Liga does much better at producing players, the only problem is many of the good ones, unless they are good enough for Barca or Madrid head elsewhere with a fair few choosing the PL, they replace these with another young talent but that player isn't as good as the talented player who is reaching his peak and playing elsewhere.

Unless there is some kind of change in conditions then the PL is only going to catch and overtake La Liga given the increasing financial gap, althouth Barca and Madrid can hold out.

How many of the 'superstars' in La Liga are actually Spanish?

posted on 29/4/15

Superstars might be pushing it but players like Xavi, Sergio Ramos, Xabi Alonso etc. are a step above what England produces.

A lot of their superstars where brought in from different countries as well....

How to make La Liga more like the PL:

Trademark the term 'The greatest league in the world' and apply it where necessary

Ban ALL technique and replace it with 'effort'

Replace all alternative formations and tactics with 'Plan B' (i.e English desire to play long ball tactics when chasing a goal)

Make sure all youth players are expensive foreign youth players, loaned out for eternity and profit

Have absolutely woeful, terrible awful, overpaid national team players.

He forgot to add the part where Barca and Real would have to give hundreds of millions out to their competitors to make the league fairer....

Which thinking on it is the main reason Barca and Madrid are so far ahead of their English counterparts...

Figo

Zidane

Kaka

Ronaldo

Bale

All broke the world transfer record.

All bought by Real Madrid.

None of them are Spanish.

The Spanish league is clearly the best league in Europe - and not only because Barca and Real. Just look at the success of the other Spanish teams in the CL and especially the Europa League in recent years. And it is not only Atletico, Valencia and Sevilla but also others like Villareal or Bilbao.

Why is the PL infinately more popular on a global scale then?

posted on 29/4/15

The way I see it is there is a far bigger variety of styles in England compared to Spain

While there are differences in Spain with each Team most all play similar tactics.

In England most teams have different style of play. You go into a game knowing it'll be different to the last. In contrast you probably expect a similar game to the last in Spain

La Liga has the better teams at the top - but the Premiership STILL has far more depth to it - smaller teams don't just roll over to the big clubs.
