Thank you selectors for FINALLY letting Rashid back to Yorkshire so he could play some cricket!
We would undoubtedly be doing better in the Championship if it hadn't been for the selectors messing things up by calling up all our players.
Oh here's another great idea - lets pick loads of Yorkshire players and then not give them a game! Then Trott fails miserably which means Lyth will be pitched in against two GOOD teams this year in NZ and Australia in his test debut! Thanks very much, makes a lot of sense
By the way what the HECK happened to Plunkett?
Thanks selectors!!

The England selectors are a complete farce, incompetent to the core, they should all be replaced in my opinion.
They drag Rashid, Lyth, Plunkett and Bairstow off to the Windies for a few weeks to carry drinks and sunbathe, a complete waste of time.
We have not learnt anything we did not already know in this series, ie. Trott is not an opener, Tredwell is not good enough, Stokes and Jordan are too similar etc etc.
Bad management all round.

Agreed on all counts Billy - my vote on the option for Stokes or Jordan I would personally plump for Stokes. I think we need a third bowling option and unfortunately i don't see anyone better than either Plunkett or Yorkshire's own Brooks!! So I am really doing Yorkshire another disservice again! However maybe Finn deserves another go? I used to really like Finn but the bowling coaches have messed him up!

Well Colin Graves said questions would be asked. It would be good to know the answers. For the record I had no problem with Trott playing all 3 tests - you can't succeed or fail on 1 or 2 games.
So my questions:
- why pick a specialist #3 to open?
- If the objective was to give Trott 3 tests why bring a sub? These days a replacement can be flown out in 24 hours.
- why include both Jordan and Stokes in the team?
- similarly, if the objective was to play Stokes and Jordan for 3 games why bring a covering player?
- Why bring Rashid at all? In this case there seemed little reason for him being there
I know it is unlikely to happen but it would be good to see a "lessons learned" and how this helps for future series.

I think they will stick with Ali and Root as the spinning options for a test match in May when it is unlikely to be ragging square, Ali will be seen as a better batting option than Rashid (the safer option).
Also that will allow Ali to bat at 6 and they can then pick 4 seamers, Jimmy, Broad and 2 others. Things may have to change later in the summer when the pitches dry out and a specialist spinner may be needed. They have facked up not having a closer look at Rashid in the Windies series.
I would also be tempted to have another look at Bairstow, Buttlers glove work has left a lot to be desired and they are quite similar with the bat.

Your joking that bairstow is anywhere near butler as a batsman?

No, Bairstow has a far higher first class batting average than Butler and has also scored runs against the SA test attack - no easy feat he is no mug.
Butler may have possession currently, but his keeping has been sub standard, it would not hurt to remind him there is somebody there capable of taking his place.

Please god hope we stay well clear of Bairstow
