IPL side in Group stages in Europe?

As if i need to remind anyone League of Ireland side Shamrock Rovers made history this week by becoming the first ever Irish club side (South or North) to qualify for the group stages of a major European competition.

When you consider that neither of the Glasgow giants Celtic or Rangers could manage this it makes you realise how great an acheivement it was.

So, the question remains. Can any of the top sides in the Irish Premier League go and qualify for either the Europa or Champions League in the near future.

Remember too that its not as if Shamrock Rovers are flush with money. They don't have any major business men pumping vast amounts of funds into the club. This club was raised from the ashes by its loyal supporters and run in a sensible manner. The total cost of the 11 players who took the field against Partizan Belgrade was a mere €600,000!!!!
