Is it true he has to go to do military service in 2 years time?!

Apparently

I can find no evidence Park Ji-Sung (Man Utd) ever did 2 years, and he is 30.
Would have thought captaining the national team was service to your country enough, otherwise South Korea would lose players for 2 years all the time.
I think these rumours are not the whole story, and I doubt he will have to do the 2 years...
But I could be wrong!!

Park Ji-Sung was part of the 2002 World Cup Squad, they were all excused from National Service due to their strong performance at the tournament.
Lee Chung-Yong however, was a middle school dropout, he is therefore not eligible for National Service.
Unfortunately, I think your guy still has to do it.

Park is exempt because of South Korea's success in 2002

Won't the captain of the national team be exempt from it as well?
He did well in South Africa, and if South Korea want a repeat of 2002 then ending their players careers at 28 makes no sense...

I think they decided at some point that WC squads would get exemptions for reaching the quarter-finals. I think in 2010 S.Korea went out in the 2nd Round? I could be wrong though.
