Ilkay Gundogan Update [Sunday Times]

According to club sources, a deal is in place with the midfielder. This adds more weight to what Der Westen have been reporting since 24th April. They were the first to report the news in Germany that a deal had been agreed but with the player's camp rather than with Dortmund and they've reiterated that claim twice since then and they are supposed to be very reliable.

German football journos say that gundogan's back is a ticking timebomb and he's also had other fairly serious injuries too.

He's only had one serious injury. The others are all quite minor. I'm not sure what other injuries they're referring to.

I can see Klopp being our next boss after LVG, despite most people thinking it will be Giggs.

He just looks a Utd manager. Angry, passionate and a great motivator.

Fair enough.........but one is enough surely? Falcao only had one didn't he? Hargreaves did too.

It's a BIG gamble, that's all I'm saying.

It is a gamble but one we can certainly afford to take.

It's been 6 months roughly since he returned and he's had no trouble with his back and he has played a lot of football since then. That's a good sign.

we are obviously gonna play 433

a mid field trio of :

------------carrick---------------
----herrera--------gundogan---

will boss every game. Problem is carrick is aging and also needs replacing. Gundogan as the defensive holding midfielder will be a bad idea and a waste.

I agree with a lot of ppl who say schnerderlin, but I feel a matic like player like wanyama will give the more creative players freedom.

Would love Gundogan at the club and even for £20m I think he would be a risk worth taking. It has only been the 1 injury and from what I recall the main worry was his mental state, not of any recurrence of the injury.

Like Ginger said a mifield trio of Carrick, Herrera, Gundogan could be great.
