People from PSV have claimed we were interested in Depay. Most reputable football sources have claimed we were interested in Depay.

Were they respected Armenian Journos, or Yaro? If not, it's a load of tosh.

It was the director of football of PSV who confirmed this. Said while ago that LFC and PSG had contacted PSV officially, and Man U had only inquired about Depay. Said in weekend that PSV had reached an agreement with PSV, but then united came and Depay only wanted to go there cause of van Gaal.

That said, am not too disappointed about this. I do watch Dutch football every week, and Depay certainly is not at the same level of Suarez when he joint LFC. Good player, but like I said while ago, I think we have enough options as wingers, and defence, CF and CM are far more important to strengthen.

Imo Depay certainly isn't the Dutch Ronaldo, never been called that in Holland. Only the English tabloids came up with that.

Well yes, the PSV sporting director said he held personal talks with Ian Ayre, is that reputable enough to not be a load of tosh?

He wasn't for us, and according to BR we weren't for him. I wish we could return to the real glory days of not knowing who we were chasing until they were signed.

Comments about Ayres - unless the guy who posted was an actual part of any negotiating team of course and was privy to insider knowledge - should be treated with contempt. If you weren't there fella, stop making it up as you go along, it makes you look very silly indeed.

Obviously only the view of a handful of people but it once again questions the credibility of Brendan. Saying "we were interested but things have changed so we are no longer" is better than trying to pretend we were never interested.

Not sure who to believe but remember this classic from Mr Rogers not so long ago.
