Is Pogba worth it?

I mean in the grand scheme of things, including wages, transfer fee and possible squad unrest if he wants £300k+ per week.

Jose said we didn't sign Shaw because he couldn't justify wages of £100k for an 18 year old when we had a world cup winner on £90k per week as it would tear the squad apart and I feel that logic could also apply here.

I personally think we could spend £70m odd on much more progressive signings for the squad than blowing it all on one man. For that we could bring in Schneiderlin (who is class) and still have £40m or more to improve wherever Jose feels we need the most improvement. Don't get me wrong I understand that the guy is fantastic but can't help but feel that kind of money can be spent better elsewhere.

the wages being spoken about are ridiculous, Our best players should be gettign the wages and no one coming in should be on more than Hazard

for that reason, im out

we don't need a Pogba like Machester City need a Pogba, i think people get so caught up in names and flavours of the month,

buy players who would fit in with the team both in quality and harmony, take a gamble on RLC and bring in a schneiderlin. There you have a the title wining midfield with some added quality and a guy who could potentially be as good as pogba, or more importantly as valuable to us as pogba is to Juventus.

Pogba is a fantastic player, he won young player at the WC, he won player of the tournament in the under 21s for France, he consistently scores winning goals for Juve and he's never shied away from a big game for them.

I'm sure a few people's minds about him will change after tonight's game.

I really have not seen enough of Pogba, people rate him higher than any other though. imagine he was the next toure/essien or even better vieira than hed be worth whatever. BUT, juve looked pretty good last week against madrid and he wasnt playing, are juve a good team where pogba is (still a good player) but just another player in a good team. Or does he really stand out that much?

Not sure where you've got 300k from? He'd still certainly offer better value than Rooney who is on the same but I reckon he'd sign for half that.

You could do with a lesson in business, economics and marketing my friend.

Fair point. Rooney is the new Park.

Whenever I've seen him he's certainly stood out, admittedly I've only actually watched him for Juve in Serie A about 5 times, but he always looks good on the European and International levels too. His highlights reel is certainly as good as any.

Sometimes you just get a feel for a special talent, that's the sort of feeling I personally have towards him.

He's very good but if £70 million really is how much it will take to get him then as a Chelsea fan I'd rather sit back and watch the likes of City take that huge gamble on him if they really want him that badly.

The problem is that at 70 million plus 5 million a year wages, he's be 30 million a year on your FFP budget. That's madness! That could easily be three good players. BUT if ... just if ... he is as good as these usual footballing spin doctors, then he'd be a great buy.

FFP will stop any English club bidding 70M for Pogba City can spend no more then a net spend of 50M.

Actually, it is not the amount of money they pay and receive exactly. If City pay 50 million on a five year deal, Pogba's FFP contribution would be 50 million divided b 5 years = 10 million a year plus say 10 million in wages. So his actual FFP value would be 20 million p/a. Now imagine, Yaya Toure is offloaded from your books, his wages + amortised transfer value would make a big dent in that total.
