If we end up 4th with an FA cup/no Fa cup which is still very possible?
If we lose to United they'll go above us and despite our game in hand the pressure of avoiding 4th could result in a monumental crumble as always.
We were in the race last season till Jan and somehow ended up scrapping with Everton for 4th, you cannot write off this possibility.
So if this is the case alongside winning or the unthinkable prospect of NOT winning the FA Cup then what is the verdict on Arsene? It would be the same result as last season and the so called 'progress' we've made this season would be false.
We have put up better fights in the big games no doubt but we've been less consistent than last season considering our start of the season.
I am still hopeful of 2nd never mind 3rd and winning the cup to put us in good stead for next season but if we end up 4th again then questions will have to be raised.
We CAN'T lose to United for me, massive game that could truly define our progress, we're dealing with such fine margins.
I'm not ruling out Benteke absolutely destroying the casualty called Mertesacker at Wembley either
Stance On Wenger

I don't think 2-3 games should define anyone's stance on Wenger tbh.
What if you go down to 10 men after 5 minutes against United because someone does something stupid? Or vice versa.
Or ditto in the FA Cup final.
You ought to have seen enough already to have a firm stance on Wenger, whichever it may be.

Stance on Wenger regarding the next few years though, whether it's too long a wait for him to see out his contract I really think by next season we have to be challenging properly for the big 2 trophies.
I expected a better league challenge this season tbh

Progress isn't just about points or position, especially at the top end.
Progress is also about correcting problems (Gabriel Paulista for instance), developing a playing system more suited to the PL (Coquelin coming in, more solid against the top teams), and introducing top players (Alexis has been an undoubted success).
We are in a far stronger position than 3 years ago, that is obvious, and quite clearly moving in the right direction.
The real question is are we progressing at a rate to get us up and around Chelsea in the next couple of seasons, or indeed to keep up with the Manc pair, who will undoubtably spend big this summer.

Well yeah how close we are to City & Chelsea is my only concern. We've had top 4 sorted for years we really need to challenge for the big 2 as I said above.
I also question Arsene's efficiency in the market because let's be honest he was very fortunate with Coquelin's emergence and Gabriel was brought in as a result of a horrid mistake in having only 2 proven CB's.
Will Arsene buy the CB & CF we desperately need to challenge? I'm just so uncertain.
It's hard to trust him although I'm happy with him at the moment we really have to push on next season

With Villa 5-1 down at half time today the thought of losing the FA cup final is even harder to believe. Ending up fourth will be disappointing but losing to Man U, even this season is not completely unexpected. Losing to Swansea was worse.
