Goodbye, Steven.

So, that's it then.
All the fawning and platitudes done, all the adulation poured like molasses soaked in honey to anoint Saint Steven.

Only one last gesture to rubber stamp and seal the envelope containing the certificate of undying appreciation in which the whole world holds Him.

The name Steve is to be retired.

Yes, in a way only Liverpool could do, no other Steve will be seen in a Liverpool shirt.

A wonderful gesture.

But it doesn't end there, oh dear me no.

Any previous Liverpool 'Steve' will have their name expunged from official records.

No parents can in future have the vicar baptise their new born and use that name.

Anyone using the name 'Steve' , or any derivatives of said name ( Ste, Steven, Stephen, Steph, Stevens, Stephanie etc), will find themselves charged with bringing the name into disrepute. If found guilty, the Steve mentioned shall be governed by law to be renamed ' Norman'.

This is the largest honour we can all bestow on the greatest human being to grace the planet.

You're all being mean.
Personally, I'm quite impressed by a player spending 17 years at a top club, regardless of what you think of the club or the player.

He made the right choice staying at pool. He will now be remembered as a legend forever, in all honesty that's better than a premier league trophy tbh.
