Jackie please go now.

It it wasn't obvious before, then it is now, after yesterday's result that it's time for Jackie to depart from Tannadice.
After a decent first season probably down to the players rather than the manager this season has ended as a shambles.
His team selections have been bewildering with his continual rotation of players.
Tactics non existent.
And based on Ivan's stats we have now gone behind in 19 games and failed to win any.
Thompson must make the decision to remove him if he won't go voluntarily.
We finish with a derby and our chances of winning that look unlikely.

That Christ Erskine guy you have has to be the worst excuse for a footballer I've ever seen.

He was horrendous yesterday

Maybe if they bought Jesus Navas from Man City to replace him they might experience some form of divine intervention

So what you are saying is when the team are playing well its the players performing and not the managers influence but when the team aren't playing well its the managers influence and not the players under performing

Bit unfair on jackie. Are you forgetting what it was like before he took over?

Everything about Dundee Utd is crap just now.

Their defence was minging.. So bad that they took to injuring each other. Their midfield must've thought they were playing rugby with all the square passes and passes back to defence they did. And then there's their attack, or Cifcti as he's more commonly known.. Didn't even know he was on the pitch for most of the game. Totally anonymous, so I hope to hell that these rumours linking him with us are guff.

For a team that are supposedly fighting for a Euro spot, that was as flat and uninteresting a performance as your ever likely to see. Not just the managers fault.

I wouldn't say McNamara had a good first season - we've had two outstanding half-seasons then two diabolical finishes.

It's a strange one with him. If you said we'd lose our 4 best players for around £6m in total within 6 months, and still finish in the top 5 then that sounds pretty good. Going by win percentage, he's still our 2nd best top-flight permanent manager. Not to mention the record scoreline against Dundee. Superficially, he's doing a good job.

Unfortunately, that masks a lot of the problems on the pitch. I can handle players making mistakes or simply not being good enough, but for player to be making the same mistakes every week is unacceptable. As is a lack of fitness and even a lack of motivation. The squad we have at the moment is fairly talented, and to McNamara's credit it's largely one he built. But too often they don't play anything like as well as they can.

I'd like to see McNamara move on, but I'm not sure who to replace him with. Maybe that beardy bloke across the road would like a step up in his career. Taking Dundee to the top 6 is something they fantasise about, so he's doing a pretty good job there.

Peter Houston

Or Craig Levein

I am not looking forward to the derby at all on Sunday. I expect nothing from it. I'm hoping for a draw.

Jackie has to go. I wasn't at the game on Saturday but I was speaking to a mate who was and he says it was just hopeless.

He was telling me about when Rado went off injured. As he was walking off, potentially (depending on the extent of the injury) his last game for the club, John Hughes hopped out his dugout and shook Rado's hand. Jackie stayed seated, as he had done for the whole afternoon.

That just sums him up for me.

I just cannot fathom how the same defensive mistakes can continue to be made week after week, season after season, regardless of personnel and system. That's bad management. He has never addressed our defensive fragility and now that we don't have the attacking threat to offset it we're horribly exposed.

Again though, it's not exactly season-after-season. Both of McNamara's full seasons have started with terrific defensive performances, then it turned to absolute crap. Dillon & Souttar were rock solid at the start of the 2013-14 campaign, and Morris & Fojut were similar during the start of this season. Then it all went spectacularly wrong. Fojut is about 1/15th of the player he was when he first signed.

That's a worrying trend for a lot of our players actually. So many of them start the season well but have completely gone by Christmas. It's as if we have a great pre-season but by the end of the year training sessions are being taken by an alcoholic who doesn't know what he's doing... allegedly.

It's got to be the coaching then. It's like the good defensive aspects of their game has been coached out of them.

I dislike when the managers take all the blame - the players often get away with things - but I find it difficult to not appropriate the majority of the blame on the coaching staff on this occassion.

Not at all Timmy but who did he take over from.

None of than Houston who JBJ says is a no brainer to replace him.

No matter who United appointed there would be no guarantee, unless Mourinho or Guardiola fancy the gig.

Having supported United for 50 years, through good (McLean), bad (Brewster) and indifferent times I've always been realistic (maybe pessimistic even)

For me the first target is top 6, then a half decent run in the cups.
