Haven't been on here for...ohhh...years. Apathy has kept me away I'm afraid.
But, back on 606, this would be the time of year I'd be compiling a list of potential bargains for next season. We used to be the top of the pecking order for all those players too good for mediocre teams, not good enough for the top 4/5.
Not sure we have the same pulling power anymore sadly. But, I wouldn't mind seeing some of these at Villa next year:
DEFINITELY
Charlie Austin
Danny Ings
Kieron Trippier
MAYBE
Leroy Fer
Steven Caulker (although he's been relegated twice now...)
Curtis Davies (could he be better second time round?)
James Chester
While it's not the wisest strategy to recruit from relegated clubs, you can sometimes pick up a bargain (Richardson and Senderos from Fulham last year)

Leroy has been relegated in consequetive seasons as well as Caulker. He (Fer) is the best player of the lot though.

Austin would be good, ings I think is going to Liverpool. we where linked with livermoore a few weeks ago, but guess that one isn't happening now.

Sterling may be available shortly. I'm sure Tim could convince him this is just the place for him to flourish.
Generally, relegated bargains no. Austin might be the exception. We need some quality defenders, in particular someone who can be leader if Clark gets injured again.
