We're only one position behind where we are expected to be at this stage and would have been on a level position if the players had something to play for and possible above the expectation if we had a striker this season, who scored goals. Small margins, which I'm confident will be rectified next season.

My only worry is the likes of Arsenal and United improve, with their increased spending and pulling power, more than we do.

For me it's the latter, especially considering the margins are small and easily fixed. He can put out the right teams and play them in a way that picks up wins and excites. For me that's what matters. However due to having no strikers who score goals, it all failed. He has to partly take blame for that but is it enough to sack him, considering all he has to do to improve that is to get a striker who scores goals? Not for me.

He signed Borini, Lambert and Balotelli. He is at fault for our striker situation

Judging by that answer it's definitely knee-jerk considering your basing your answer on one game.

I was very happy at the end of last season. We had everything to look forward to albeit another missed chance to win the PL. As Stevie would say we were ready to go again.

Then came the Suarez incident at the World Cup. That issue could have been managed but where the owners were so strong the season before it was like they couldn't wait to move him on the next.

Now, that's ok as long as the money was invested wisely. My god what on earth happened there? Balotelli? Lovren?

So as good as we were achieving next to nothing last season we gave been as awful achieving nothing this.

To me the manager is the be all and end all of the club. If he's not good enough the rest is academic. Brendan just doesn't measure up as far as I'm concerned. We had the best he has to offer and it's downhill from now on.

Was the manager not the be all and end all last season when we put in a title challenge?

What was your opinion at the end of last season then, considering you judge, in your own words, on one season?

Does that yo-yo up and down as we have a good season then a bad one? As if it does there will be a lot of yo-yoing as we try to make sustained CL qualification, which is the next step.

So it will be

Rodgers is crap
Rodgers is great
Rodgers is crap
Rodgers is great

Etc.

Strange way to look at things, for me.
