I genuinely am not joking when I say It’s probably become as powerful as some nations; and certainly richer than some in recent years.
I believe there does need to be a re-format/re-structure. Where perhaps you can only be in high office for a maximum of 2 terms (Yes I know, very U.S Presidential)
But the problem is, power corrupts. I think people can start out with the best of intentions (Perhaps even Blatter did) but ultimately, like Anakin Skywalker, they will be seduced by the dark side.
It’s not like being a NYC Copper in the Godfather, where you’re on the family payroll and allow drug dealing to go on in your precinct.
I think in the eyes of the big wigs at FIFA, these are “harmless" bribes where no serious hurt is being caused, to give countries the rights to host big tournaments. I’m sure in their eyes the only people really paying are the people giving the massive bribes.
The clever ones will have reaped the rewards without getting their hands dirty. I don’t think however far you reached, you’d ever find any hard evidence against Blatter.
It’s scary how ‘bullet proof’ the man appears to have become. He won’t stand down. He’s claiming he was unaware of any corruption within the organisation. Really? Where has he been the past 5 years? Living on Mars?
As I say, the man is not deluded, he just doesn’t care! Some people have thick skin. This man has armour plated skin. He will never resign but even if he did? What difference would it make?
At the end of the 18th Century, the colonies had this little temper tantrum that got named the war of independence. It was about taxation without representation. It was about governing themselves and freeing themselves from a tyrant. What changed in the aftermath of gaining independence? Virtually bugga all for nearly 2 centuries!
FIFA/Blatter has become SO powerful!

Its simple old racketeering , an organisation who's members have the responsibility to no one a part themselves.
Majority rule

Well he will probably have his name inducted into the Oxford Dictionary . To Blatter, to take on a suicidal, to self and company , obstinate course of action with no possible chance of success.

What a novel idea...to have a department for football.

Particularly in Football's governing body.....he may as well have said, the football was secondary to making money, we can no longer be seen to be getting away with that

Has anyone actually said anything about getting rid of the World Cup?

No but he knows he's totally stuffed if UEFA and CONCACAF decide to breakaway and form their own governing body. Africa and Asia may well have stacks of member nations to give him votes. But not one of those nations is one of football's heavy hitters.
UEFA and CONCACAF are where the world stars of football are from and therefore where the sponsors and the money will go. Without South America and Europe, there is no World Cup worth having. This is why I don't understand Blatter's course of action. He knows he's lost Europe already, it's like he doesn't realise that America will get the South American nations to do as they say (Brazil got their World Cup so nobody there is due one for 12-16 years now anyway).
He must believe that UEFA will bottle it or that the South American contingent of CONCACAF won't follow them if they don't. It's a brass balls move, I'll give him that much. The true sign of someone who believes he's untouchable. Going to backfire big time too, he'll take FIFA down with him.
Get ready for the UEFACAF World Cup 2018 and 2022. The US and UK will flip a coin for hosting 2022. 2018 will still be Russia as it's quite close now and they'll happily drop Blatter right in it when it's agreed that they'll keep their World Cup and we'll keep our gas on
