Where did you finish in the league? The board in the game always sacks you if you don't reach League objectives but don't care about Cup objectives.

Similar thing happened with me.

Joined Everton in January.. league objective was to qualify for Europe. As i later calculated at the end of tje season, that meant I couldn't really afford to drop any points. I dropped 4 in total, finishing 6th and won the FA Cup.
