Final Ozil Article Of The Season

I could've cried real tears yesterday after seeing Ozil look so lively yesterday... this didn't come because he finally pulled his finger out, this came because the team was very suited to him.

I have been screaming out for this the moment he signed and I just can't believe how long Wenger has inhibited Mesut by playing central midfielders behind the CF and Giroud up top.

In Ramsey and Theo, Ozil had willing runners yesterday and our fluency was brilliant it opened so much space for Ozil and he had an embarrassment of options to pick out yesterday, it must've been so overwhelming.

The way Ozil jinks one way, looks for the pass, has a body feint to rival Messi, his first touch is the best I've seen at the club since Bergkamp honestly, he's technically out of this world.

He's brilliant in fast paced games like at Madrid where they had one of the greatest counter-attacking sides in modern day.

Theo owed him 2 assists but at least he brings out his potential. Sometimes I feel Wenger brought Ozil without fully knowing the player because we haven't built the team around him at all and he's not a tippy-tappy player like Santi, Cesc and Nasri were, in fact he looks sluggish when we play that way. He's more direct therefore runners are required.

This was all done yday with Theo so imagine we actually had a top CF with speed? Can't believe some are satisfied with Giroud as main man, last 2 games have brought the real Arsenal back and it's been with Theo at CF.

Ozil is a team player so his work is only as good as the options he can use.

If we don't buy a CF then we must fully focus on making Theo the best he can be in that role, of course some games he'll struggle but overall we need this up top, his very presence also tactically limit the opposition because they're torn between pressing us or sitting deep.

Villa tried to press but then the space in behind scuppered their plans, our goal before HT then threw their script out the window and we had so much space in their half.

Giroud has proven time and time again he's a fantastic impact player too will be a wonderful back-up option but we need the dynamic speedy Arsenal back and Theo has provided that, a new top CF would be even better.

We smashed the same opposition 5-0 with Ozil and Giroud playing very well together.

Özil was good but hardly real tears stuff. That stuff is only commissioned for Messi.
It was his best game for Arsenal by done distance though given the occasion as well. Finally got to see both him and Santi playing in top form as same time and there really isn't much between the two.

You at it again OP

Not even going to bother. Yes Mesut played brilliantly. As did the rest of the team.

Ozil has played well as an individual with Giroud but not as good as y'day imo.

Giroud limits his stats too, if he had the same option Cesc has had all year he'd have destroyed the assists charts this year he's one of the greatest assists masters of all time.

His stats are average since joining and it's a lack of mobility.

He'd create clear cut chances he did for Theo y'day every single week if he has that option but he doesn't and this makes him often look poor.

Ozil is too good to not have the odd game where he looks on form with Giroud but realistically we could witness the clear best No. 10 in world football and the most gifted footballer in the PL if we build the team around him this summer.

Starts with a new CF or at least using Walcott more in that role, no coincidence that his best combinations this season have been with Welbeck & Theo and neither are top bracket CF's, imagine a top one?

Giroud's plan B imo

lack of mobility ahead of him*

Ozil's poor performances have been Ozil's fault and nobody else's. You can't claim he's as good as you do then blame his poor game son the team not being tailor made to suit him. Anyone as good as you state he is, does not require a team tailor made to him to play well. As I've said to you before, stop slagging off our other player to justify what was nothing more than Ozil having a poor year settling into the league.

And you're a bit ahead of yourself saying Theo isn't a top bracket CF, jury's out on that one. And this is the problem, we have. We don't know yet, just how many goals Walcott can score. However indicators suggest that the answer is, more than enough if we can keep him fit all season.

We'll not be building the team around Ozil, because it's already been built around Theo. Wenger has bought Ozil to supply Walcott. We will not buy a marquee CF until Wenger has at least given Theo his shot there. And only a fool would think that was a wrong course of action. You don't go spending 50+ million without being dam sure you need to. And until Theo gets his chance to shine, we don't know.

-----------

Was thinking you were making a point until this.

Had Theo not have had the performances he had in his last 2 games and we don't even know if he'd have been kept, even you were hoping we don't get Sterling who'd affectively replace Theo.

Wenger has only just been convinced about what Theo can still offer in a different role, all season Ox & Alexis have been preferred, you will say injuries but there has been many opportunities for Theo to not only start but come on for more than 10 mins in games, you can't deny because you've complained about his lack of game time.

I like Theo, hope we keep him but the team has never been intended to be built around him, if anything he's proven Wenger wrong countless times who hasn't ever really been full convinced in him.

He'd have been tied down and offered his demands already if the team was built around him.

I don't think I'm getting ahead of myself suggesting Theo isn't top bracket CF either by this I mean Suarez, Aguero quality or even below that with Benzema, Lewandowski etc..

Theo has potential but as of yet he's not in that bracket. For the record I hope he can prove to be up there, it's good for the team and good for Ozil but please be realistic
