I know that today has been a sore one for the bears on here (even if it wasn't a surprise) but I think there is something to be taken from this season for you guys.
The results were woeful beyond belief, the players embarrassed themselves right up to the last minute of the football season and the managers were to say the least, poor.
Yet Rangers have a foundation for next season. You have a board that will at the very least listen to your concerns, which is something that did not exist at the start of this season. At Christmas time it was looking like Mike Ashley was going to tighten a vice-like grip on your club and with the release of the League Cup Semi-Final T-shirts you looked like becoming the sporting wing of the Sports Direct Empire (Scotland Branch). There was talk of Admin and you lurched from one cash crisis to the next.
Now at least you have the chance to build on a proper foundation. Yes, the scale of the plans will need to be downgraded due to playing in a lower division but you have investors willing to provide some cash to repair and rebuild a club whose infrastructure had been stripped (no scouting dept. etc). There is the opportunity to start to assemble an entirely new squad of players and bed them in for a year outside the pressures of the top flight.
You have to wonder what sort of Rangers would have existed in the top flight with Mike Ashley at the helm. You would be relying on the good graces of a man who had already weighted a merchandising deal to bypass the clubs own coffers.
Is it not better to have a Championship club in the hands of people who at least seem to care about its future than an SPL club owned by a man whose sole purpose is to milk it for his own gains?
To that end I would suggest that this is something to think on over the summer when the disappointment of the play-off subsides.
A Consolation of sorts

UTC very valid points. And of course correct in that stability appears to be happening of the field of play. For most us, we're totally pîssed off at the poverty of the product on the park for the last 3 seasons. That so much money has been squandered on has beers and journey men instead of using it as an opportunity to develop our own and invest in the best young Scottish talent. This has been compounded by the style of play that has been abysmal to watch. We're no better on the park now than we were in div 2 in 2012. Huge missed opportunity and McCoist must take the blame for that. That was the opportunity to grow the green shoots of the on-field recovery. Now we must completely rebuild the team, coaching and scouting staff. It's amammoth task in the close season to get ready for the new season. And just epitomizes the complete mismanagement from top to bottom in the club.
But this cloud does have that silver lining and we will rebuild. But so big is the task that we may not even get promoted next season because his and st mired have more stable squads and are definitely ahead of us on the park. Another tough season lies ahead. But it starts with getting a decent manager in. McCall is not the man for the job
