The Thailand 3. What if ......

it wasn't three young Academy boys with barely a first team start between them?

What if it had been three established and VALUBLE first teamers caught in the act?

For example, had it been Vardy, Schlupp and Ulloa (and I use these purely as names of players who have done well in the Premier League and not as any indication that I think they would do any such thing) would we all be quite so self righteous and demanding that they be sacked immediately and never darken the doors of the KP again?

Just asking.

I would like to think the answer is yes, but I have to admit it may be a harder a decision.

Have they been sacked?

What if it had been the Bishop of Leicester throttling his wife instead of Simpson....... it is not acceptable to link these acts to other players even hypothetically...

It was not anyone else- it was the three named ... end of debate

The sooner the club quietly move them out by cancelling their contacts and issuing a short statement confirming same and apologising for the occurrence the sooner we can get the story out of press and move on.

It is a bit of an imponderable question.

Fortunately it's not a question we have to answer, but my response would be the same: To be a supporter, to feel any kind of emotional connection with the players on the pitch, I have to have some respect for them as people. I couldn't cheer Danny Simpson, I couldn't cheer these individuals right now, regardless of success or ability. It's probably an individual thing, but my answer would be the same. Whether the club's answer would be any different is hopefully something we'll never have to find out.

I haven't seen the video, or even heard exactly what happened.

But if racial tones were used they absolutely should be sacked.

JG - I made it quite clear that I was not linking those three players and you are more than intelligent enough to understand that.

I have thought a lot about what actions the club should take and also (as a father myself of teenage girls) how Nigel Pearson must be feeling about his own son. And the question has arisen in my own mind - would I be considering different actions if the three players concerned had been star players worth a few quid?

On purely moral grounds their age and status should not come into the decision making, but on financial or performance grounds I rather suspect it might.

Its a difficult question that I think several might tussle with if they are honest.

In some terms I can understand your point FFS - I also share your concern about the impact on all their families -I have a son the same age who has also travelled abroad with sport and I have great sympathy for Pearson in this situation.

I also have good knowledge of the squad and have championed the cause of quite a few- however the situation is clear ... the players involved are in privileged positions and have let the club and owners down and behaved disgracefully and must leave the club forthwith.

None of them actually came through our Academy but were signed at youth stages and were offered opportunity at our club -at the expense of others .. they make me very angry

It wasnt 3 young lad, they are all in their twenties.
If they dont know how to behave then get rid.
No excuses they are old enough to know better.
Trouble is they are not bright enough to know better.

I think that your question is a valid one FFS. I think that most of us would convey the same degree of revulsion, but there would inevitably be some concern about what it means for the club.

It would be quite difficult to write off potentially multi million pound assets. We might drop them and transfer list them, but then comes the problem if their value depreciating as other clubs would know or dilemma.

What I'd a scenario unfolded say where they were suspended and then returned to the team after showing some grovelling remorse, a high profile donation to some charity and enrolment in an education programme. What if following their return they score us the goals that earn us something significant. Would we then forgive and forget?

^^apologies if some of that doesn't make sense. Predictive text and autocorrect aren't always helpful ....
