Would really like to see something like this. As said above, would be a great project and there's plenty of room for a 'powerhouse' club in the Midlands.

Still might not go through as there are several interested parties, but if true it is a definately game changer.

You seen the size of Villa's debt? No astute businessman wants to pay needless money for someone else's debt.

As long as any new owner doesn't have any fancy five-year plans to become an estblished top-four side/win the Premier League/win the Champions League because, just because it's planned, it rarely happens, even if you have the best coach. SAF only won two Champions Leagues, the first with two goals right at the death of the match, the second on penalties when, if John Terry had scored his penalty instead of slipping, Chelsea would have won that year on Moscow. Even Chelsea with all the money thrown at its team have only one Champions League title, and that won by a stand-in coach (Albion reject Roberto di Matteo) after Abramovich lost patience with Andre Villas Boas. Nothing in football can be guaranteed - except corruption at Fifa.

And here, I am reminded of Fulham, who owed £180 million to previous owner Mohammed Al Fayed, who sold the club (together with its only asset, its priceless Thames riverside freehold) to someone called Shahid Khan, who also paid up Fulham's debt to Al Fayed. Fulham were still in the Premier League then, and I don't think many people could have foreseen what happened to them. After a bad start, Martin Jol was sacked, replaced by Rene Meulensteen (Ferguson's coach at Man Utd) but he was sacked too, and the hopeless Felix Magath came in, making all sorts of big noises about how he would keep Fulham up. He failed miserably and that shut him up. And so where are Fulham now? And I wonder what occupies Shahid Khan's thoughts when he wakes up each day, having spent the best past of £200 million to buy Fulham?
