Bye Bye Mackie

So it looks like Mackie is off to QPR (you know that team under the massive transfer embargo as we are? .......... ).

It will be a shame for him to go as I think he could have still done a job off the bench, but I guess with Ward joining and Antonio and Burke in front of him on top of Oliver Burke coming through the academy, he is going to find a place hard to come by. On top of this with the wage he receives, maybe it is good to get him off the books.

Best of luck to him though, even though he wasn't the best of players, he did put in a shift every game.

Thought's?

Also who likes the new name? I hope I don't curse him as I do every person who gets the honour of being a Super

He is going to be our main striker as well til Assombolonga gets back and probably our only hope of getting near the 20 goal mark

McLauglin as well

Burke is a far better player than Mackie. I like Mackie and he works hard and definitely can be effective (he was instrumental when QPR went up and played well in Prem) but he'll never push Burke out the team.

Ray - its not easy because i could make a case for all of those player, apart from Abdoun, to stay and so Mackie not being part of the squad last year and his high wages plus he is a player other teams want make him the best candidate to move on, but he is a good player at this level

Caniggia - Mackie's performance for Reading in the FA semi final was far above any single performance Burke managed last year.

Not sure about that Basingstoke! Running around lots and getting tackles in doesn't make you a good player. He works his socks off and can be effective but Burke will get you many more goals and assists than Mackie over a season. All about opinions though and that's just mine. I liked Mackie as a player but wouldn't pick him ahead of Burke.

Have to agree, Burke has bags more quality then Mackie and will start most games I bet next season.

Bags more ? really?

Burke strikes a ball better and certainly is better at picking out a cross, but Mackie affects games for far longer periods, never hides, always wants the ball.

Mackie did only score 5 times for us but Burke only managed 6 last year

players like Mackie drive a team

I think Burke is the more effective player overall. Loved Mackie when he was revved up and taking the game to the opposition but think Burke is more tactically aware and is a better finisher.

ok chaps, clearly i am on my own on this one!

Mackie was always better as an impact sub, BR. He had energy to affect games from the bench but I wouldn't say he could deliver more consistently over 90 mins compared to Burke.

He was good at getting in the ref's ear and being a bit bullish, something that has been missing from the Forest team since. I suppose we would be looking towards Ward to provide that now?...
