On the day that the increasingly impressive Pope Francis releases his encyclical regarding climate change, our Conservative government has announced it is to bring forward the end date for subsidies for onshore wind farms to appease their voters in middle England, seriously undermining the UKs ability to reduce fossil fuel reliance.
The Popes encyclical is hard hitting and surely must act as a wake up call to the Catholics (and beyond) in the richer nations that we have a moral obligation to tackle this greatest of all challenges. But is the willingness there?
The parties of the right certainly don't seem willing to tackle this issue. Cameron has taken this stance while Jeb Bush, who is likely to be the Republican candidate for the white house, has basically told the Pope to keep our of it.
It's about time an influential figure made a stand and I applaud Pope Francis for doing so. We need the people to now follow his lead, regardless of faith.
Oh aye, this is off topic by the way.

On a side note, did anyone ever watch Utopia that used to be on channel 4? The "bad guys" made like 70% of people sterile to decrease the population humanely. Great idea

Climate change deniers fall into two camps:
- bampots
- people who make lots of money from oil
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But oil directly or indirectly makes money for a lot of people.. Not just oil and petrol companies, but pharmaceutical companies, plastics companies.. much of the world's economy is reliant on oil.
