I've discussed that on another thread...that Schneiderlin might relish the challenge to try and break the Matic/Fabregas pairing in smaller matches(or alternatively but unlikely Jose switches to three man midfield) and also knows that Chelsea will be his greatest chance of winning trophies.

Moreover, Ramires played more than I thought he would last season and he's an inferior player.
Schneiderlin would push them all the way IMO, which is healthy for the squad.

Nothing wrong with being more flexible with our formations.

If we want to progress in the CL against the likes of Barca we will need a strong ball winning midfield.

Exactly why Schneiderlin would be a satisfying signing, comfortable in multiple midfield roles for the smaller & tougher matches.

For me, the problem in midfield isn't to do with depth in terms of who can play with Matic. Fabregas, Ramires and Loftus-Cheek can all partner Matic in midfield and play the box to box role. The problem lies when or if Matic becomes either injured or out of form which based on the second-half of last season results in our midfield being very easy to by-pass. That is why we need a defensive-minded midfielder.

It is my firm belief that zouma can do this

Zouma is the definition of square peg in a round hole in midfield, did ok for short term last season in the absence of Fabregas/Matic but long term future should definitely lie in defence.

Would be terrified with him in midfield over a long stretch of matches.

Yeah I don't think that Zouma in midfield is the way forward. It's nice to know that he can fill in there if absolutely needed though.

I'd disagree...we'll see what jose thinks in the season to come...depending on who we buy otherwise

Witsel is going to AC Milan and according to today's media Schneiderlin is going to Utd.
