So Where Do We See...

These players futures?

Been a while since I have posted, been busy having a go at life!

As the title suggests, where do we see the following players futures:

Illori - I think it's finally time to give the kid a go, great ball sting centre back who has yet to get his chance in a red shirt.

Wisdom - Recently signed a new contract but didn't seem to impress too much on loan, I'm not sure on him, could he be our first choice right back? We put a bid in for Clyne.

Alberto - Again, rarely got a chance with us, didn't have the best of times on loan either, I say sell.

Smith - Remember Brad Smith? Came on bs Chelsea, had an sverage game then never saw him again. Where does he fit in?

Balotelli - Sedms most Reds want him gone, shame as he has the skills but a bad work ethic.

Lambert - Local boy but I think he will be sold, too slow for our style of play.

Origi - Give the lad a go I say.

Allen - Tidy player but pretty average, squad player at best.

Lucas - The longest serving Red in the team now. Do we still need his experience. I say yes.

Branagan - What's the latest with this kid? Will he make the first team anytime soon? I'm not so sure.

Enrique - I say sell, been injured too long and now we have Moreno.

Manquillo - Do we send him back? Started ok but faded, BR hardly used him in the end which indicates he may leave.

Flanagan - Still injured, local boy so good to have around the squad. Will he regain his form from 2013/2014?

Borini - Will be sold. Hopefully close to what we paid.

Any I have missed?

Don't get the whole idea of selling the likes of Allen and Enrique. Both good for the dressing room, and good backup players. If Henderson and Moreno both were injured for long spells, then both would be sorely missed

Ilori got injured yet again (thigh) playing for Portugal yesterday.

That's his problem, constant muscle injuries.

Don't think we have a choice on Enrique. At his age he's not gonna want to sit on the bench.

Ilori and Alberto will probably be loans until they leave on a free.

Manquillo isn't good enough and will be sent back.

Wisdom will cover the new signing at right back.

Borini and Balotelli will be sold. Lambert may decide to stay and if not given many games will leave in January.

Don't think Brannagan is gonna cut it unfortunately. Neither Smith.

Flanagan will have to prove he can get back from his injuries. Origi will be backup.

Not sure on Allen and Lucas, I suppose it will depend on who we bring in.

There was something in the Echo the other day about Alberto being on a 2 year loan deal but Malaga cut it short and sent him back. Can see him being sold to a Spanish club this summer tbh.

Ilori got injured again last night I believe. Very poor record there and it may well hold him back.

Out of the others the only two players that have class are Lucas and Balotelli.

Ones not been the same since his last injury the other couldn't be bothered to work hard enough.

Probably not enough there in the list to take us to the next level.

Branagan will get games in the cups this season I would have thought. Good player.

You still got Aspas?

Aspas is gone. We sold him to Sevilla as part of the loan deal last season, who sold him straight to Celta Vigo.

We have far too many players though.

If players like Allen and Lucas are happy to remain as squad players next season it'd be ludicrous to move them on. If we're successful next season we could feasibly have 60+ games - we need a big squad.

I agree that Lambert and Borini should go, but players like Allen and Lucas are absolutely ones to keep as long as they're happy to stay. We'd only have to spend money replacing them as back ups anyway what's the point?

It depends really.

We have Rossiter, Williams and Brannagan waiting for a chance. They may not be good enough, but if we keep Allen and Lucas then we have 6 first team CM's (if we sign Kovacic or a n other). They are playing for two or at most 3 places.

Do we want our young players to be 7th, 8th, 9th choice? Or do we want them to have a genuine chance of getting football?

Not to mention the wages involved in having an mega squad.

Personally I would rather we had a relatively small squad of quality, supported by young talent.

Chelsea won the league with a pretty small group last season. It's about quality and being available to play.
