In the Bundesliga the 3rd last plays the 3rd from the 2nd Bundesliga, win and they stay up, lose and they change places!..

The playoffs is just another ripoff that makes the League lots off cash, the fans go because its their teams that are in them and they have been given another chance of going up!..

Not right on the 3rd placed team, and not right on the people giving even more money out after a season that has more then likely left a lot off broke!..

Ask the fans that do turn up if they'd like to be where they are or if they'd like to go up the way that their team have fought for!..

Its great for the 4th to 6th teams if one off them do it, their fans will be the luckiest on the planet, but the money given out by the people through the season and even more for the playoffs is just a rip off for the team that finishes 3rd and don't get what they fought for!..

Same as the Champions League ain't the Champions League anymore!..

"If your not good enough to finish top two, you don't deserve to go up"

So why bother with the playoffs when they ain't for the top two?..

Germany only has 18 teams in the top flight and 18 teams in the 2nd tier, so maybe a guaranteed 2 switching places and a potential 3rd is just right.

Why is 3 the magic number anyway?

I like the play off system. Extends the season. Granted, if we'd come third I'd be a little miffed but coming 4th, 5th or 6th and the dream's still alive.

Personally I think the only alternative should be that season can only finish as & when Leeds United gets into a top two position irrespective of the number of games played........

Play offs was the brain child of Ron Noades ex Crystal Palace chairman now deceased I believe
It was and still is a great idea because it gives the teams a chance for promotion right to the very end of the season and thus creates interest and extra most important revenue long may it continue

It's a league over a season not a cup.
Agree with Ger re champions league,finish 4 th and you can win it.should be renamed champions and runners up and also rans league.

Aye fair point, some teams just can't handle the playoffs, like PNE for example............good job they have a genius in charge!
