2015 F1 British Grand Prix Race Thread

Ladies and Gentlepeople’s hello and welcome to the British Grand Prix Race Thread, brought to you by the thriller in Manilla, the motorsport enthusiast and ravisher of lovely lasses, me!! F1 is in Britain baby, a nation steeped deep in the history of motorsport. Like you all, I am looking forward to this race because I expect we are going to see a battle between, the former pússycat doll and Britney. Also expect to see a variety of battles through the field and hopefully get a look at the lovely new Force India

Of course I will be rooting for our world champion but would like to see Nico upset the apple cart. Weather forecast indicates it will be dry as well. Hopefully we see a resurgence from Ferrari but I think Williams will outperform them as Ferrari struggle and the hard tyres. Pirelli will bring the medium and hard tyres for this race.

So without further ado, let us begin;

Race Date 5th July 2015
First Grand Pix at Silverstone 1948
Number of laps 52
Circuit length 5.891 km
Race distance 306.198 km
Lap record 1:33.401 - M Webber (2013)

You can read the driver quotes here; http://www.formula1.com/content/fom-website/en/latest/headlines/2015/6/great-britain-preview-quotes---red-bull-and-lotus-on-silverstone.html

I will update the thread with FP1, FP2, FP3 and Quali news as well.

Lewis got lucky today to be fair. Williams had this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

at what point did they have it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
One two, should have released bottas instead the allowed lewis to overtake via pit stop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They did not have the long run pace. Would have been passed at some point

I'm always confused why certain winners cause grown men to have such toys out of pram moments.

Can't imagine being that emotionally unstable

Pretty good race in the end, I was looking forward to watching Nico battling the Williams in the dry but the rain kind of stole that moment, ah well the rain made other things interesting.

Anyone else make it to the race? Camped from Thursday til yesterday, great all round experience and a great atmosphere for the whole 4 days. Enjoyed the race, Williams' start was incredible and it started getting a little nervy in the crowd but no doubts they would have been caught without the pit stops anyway.

Rain added more excitement although I got drenched.

Plus saw Madness on Thursday (biggrin)

Watched the race at home, I think a lot of people disrespected Felipe baby. Bottas was never close enough to pass

I was there great weekend .... atmosphere at Woodlands was superb again. Loved it, thats the first time iv seen a british winner at Silverstone..after 4 attempts, so chuffed to bits. Yup i assumed after the start and safety car it was gonna be another curse of the delboy... Over the moon that Hamilton showed real class to win that race. I had the chairs and golf brolleys with me as usual so didnt get wet at all. Were abouts were u chief. We had roaming tickets however always just go to the same spot quite early and settle in before goin a wee wander once all our stuf is down. I always sit just on Chapel Curve on a ridge that raises up over the track. You get to see the cars come thro Copse all the way down and thro' Maggots and beckets (easily the best sight on the circuit) and all the way down the hangar straight so. Great views, you get to see the cars hanging on for dear life thro Maggots/Beckets and the Hangar straight you can see the overtakes. I think its the best spot on the whole circuit.

Seen a brit take home the win here now finally. Think me and mrs are thinking of doing Melbourne and Spa next year

I was at Farm Curve, atmo was really good there as well. Saw Lewis win the past 2 years so on a roll at the moment Was also really happy to see Alonso in the points, despite the fact he was helped by so many not finishing.

Looking to do Monza next year. My brother and Dad have done Spa and said it was incredible, but the coldest they've ever been...
