Why would there be a small compensation fee?

He's 25 and can move on a free contract as he was out of contract!

Doubt Sevilla are in a situation to offer him the wages pretty much any PL club (or at least top-10 PL club) could. Either nobody in England was really that interested, or it goes to show just how much the Europa League can do in terms of attracting talent.

Interesting to see how he does in the CL for them this season, I expect him to do well. Disappointed we didn't make a move.

Kolo, I suppose any fee will be related to training fees - whatever they're called in the UK - the compensation money you have to play the clubs who brought the player through his youth years.

I imagine he'll also be getting a signing on fee, and his agent will b on some kind of commission too.
