Saints Throw Spanner at Toby??!!

Looks like the hierarchy at Soton have thrown a wobbler and probably more angry as its us involved.

I would be gutted if this happened and imagine how peeved Toby would be if he really did have his heart set on joining us.

Wtf

Back in 2009 we had a very similar issue with asmir begovic this was resolved by Pompey paying us a percentage fee off of the fee they received from Stoke.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Not quite correct. Spurs and Portsmouth, and the players, Begovic and Kaboul had already agreed a transfer to Spurs in 2010, when Begovic changed his mind and wanted to go to Stoke.

Spurs had already paid a deposit on the combined transfer fee for both players, and the premier league ruled that Portsmouth must pay Spurs £1m for the aborted transfer.

Should of known this wouldnt be an easy transfer as anything involving Spurs ends up being complicated even if it's not our fault. This will most Definetly drag on for weeks and weeks now. So annoying.

@bill

The Pompey deal was a shiite site more complicated than that to explain I would be here all night but we threatened and could of blocked Stoke City or Pompey playing begovic. you block the registration to the premier league.

In this case we could sign Toby but Southampton could block the deal with the premier league. So we would own Toby but he would not be registered for use in the premier league. In Europa we could use him though.

The only way out after that if the premier league up held southmaptons complaints would be legal proceedings or negotiations between us and Southampton.

It would only be a small fee. We got a small fee for begovic after citing administration costs, costs of identifying a replacement and agent fees. ( don't be misled by the media our deal with Kabul was cheaper which is how we got our deposited money back and then got Defoe/crouch from them).

@dont cry

Alright mate hope your good.

Yeah I think this will not be an issue. In the end I think we will have Toby. Whatever happens in between that happens but I think we we should announce by next week. Unless Southampton are correct obviously but I doubt it lol.

Yedlins a funny one mate I've no doubt he is a commercial transfer primarily but the issue is we now have Cameron Carter-vickers so we have the token American player who will help us in the American market. Everyone I have spoke to says yedlin is getting loaned to the championship. Fulham or boro.

Personally I think he is fourth choice behind walker,trippier and walker-peters. With respect to yedlin he looked league two when I see him in the under 21s. (Albeit he did get injured for a big period after this so could not build on the poor performances)

The only other deal i have heard is Bentley from Southend United. Not sure if we are signing or keeping tabs. We have like an unannounced affiliation with them due to our respected youth coach Paul brush we loan them players and united train at our complex. As well as the constant behind closed doors friendliest between us I think we played them like 15 times last year!

@LLM

You are missing the point. The Portsmouth saga was sorted out officially through the premier league. There was no back room dealing between us and Stoke in order for Begovic to play for Stoke.

We complained to the Premier League that Portsmouth had reneged on a transfer deal for which we had already paid a deposit (for two players). It was then sorted by a ruling from the Premier League that Portsmouth should pay us £1m. Official.

In the case of Abereiweld, the dispute is between Southampton and Atletico on the basis of a "contract" between the two of them. We, if it is the case already, have entered into a contract with Atletico in good faith, to purchase the player with the player's agreement.

Any legal wrangles are between Southampton and Atletico, not us, and it would be quite wrong for Spurs to try to buy the silence of Southampton by offering them a back-hander, as you suggested would be the case.

It may very well be the case that the player is also joined in with any legal action on the part of Saints if he was party to the buy out clause inserted into the loan agreement between Atletico and Southampton.

Thanks for the reply LLM.

Must admit I will be disappointed if Yedlin dosent make it with us but then again the only time ive seen him play was at the world cup when he looked very exciting for USA.

since last summer we have made some really poor signings, Fazio who I hope improves has looked average, Davies I feel is a good squad player and Vorm a very able back up keeper but why the hell did we sign Stambouli?, not play him and then sell to Watford within a year?

We Must do better this transfer window or we will struggle to finish 6th next season.

If Toby does sign for us and all issues are resolved surely there is no way for us to sign Morgan S. (he still available). Would Southampton want to deal with us again lol ? For me this should finally put those rumours to bed.

Schneiderlin ship has long sailed. Just want to get this Alderweireld out the way but as always with Spurs transfers there's complications. It's like a never ending soap opera in regards to Spurs.
