One story doing the rounds at the moment is that Otamendi has agreed to join UTD and as such Real won't bother bidding for his services.
A story came out yesterday that LVG actually wants both Ramos and Otamendi and as such Real will turn to Garay to replace Ramos.
Do you think Real put this story out there to call Ramos' bluff, maybe turn Otamendis head and make him indirectly aware of their interest?
Thoughts?

I think I am in the minority that is hoping an praying that Ramos does not sign for us.

Minority would be a slight overstatement.

So it is just me then, like it

Without reading anyone else's comments or the link, my thoughts are that it is the Daily Mirror.

Not just you MUDd.
I have always thought he was over rated for Real.
But the two things he does have that none of our current CB's have is experience and leadership.
So, I am not fussed either way.

Not fussed on Ramos either - maybe as a right back but a liability with his discplnary record so would miss aot of games. We need a good leader at CB who is not injury prone, or a cert for 3 Red cards a season.
Answers on a postcard please............

Ramos looks a good fit to me. I wouldn't say he's the world's greatest centre back full stop, because effectiveness in that position really depends on how a player's style suits a system. For instance, Terry is great in a team that defends deep but wouldn't be flattered playing in a high line. Ramos would be a good fit because LVG likes his team to defend from the front (pressing game = high defensive line) and create from the back. We therefore want a CB who has the pace to play in a high line and who is a footballer, not just a stopper. We also want a big-balled leader at the back. Ramos ticks most of the boxes, as I see it. There might be plenty of defenders out there in his quality bracket but I don't know any others who match the attributes we want quite as well (admittedly, unlike everyone else on this forum, I don't watch every foreign domestic league competition).

You may be, but I think that's the minority that makes sense. Ramos is a prikc and doesn't deserve to wear our badge. I'd rather be in a minority that didn't walk around with their head shoved a meter up their @rshe.

This is a misconception. He really doesn't miss that many games and his disciplinary record has improved year on year throughout his career.
Also, if LVG does not fancy Rafael then it would be good to have that extra cover at RB and CB.
In any case, I don't believe he even wants to join us. I can see this ending with him signing an improved offer at RM, on far lower wages than we are offering. I've felt that way all along but would love to be wrong.
