Lampard for me is better than Gerrard, to consistently score 20 plus goals per season Chelsea in England and in Europe takes some doing, very rarely does a midfielder become a teams record goal scorer from MF either whilst playing at the very top level.

I think when Gerrard peaked between 04 / 07 he was a better player than lampard, however lampard has performed at the very top longer than gerrard therefore imo is a better player

Paul Scholes is just sublime, to spend your entire career at one of the biggest and best clubs in the world and continually perform and win things proves it

you always hear likes of zidane, xavi, iniesta, pirlo who were / are some of the best midfielders ever list scholes as one of the best

in England you get mouthbreathers like Jamie redknapp and Robbie savage fly the flag for lampard and gerrard.

Best midfield performance I remember was Roy Keane in the CL semi when he got booked earlier on and knew he would miss the final; ditto Scholes

Think Scholes was better than Gerrard and Lampard put together but a lot of that is down to having Keane beside him

Keane was an outstanding player and would first pick for me if I had to pick a team of the best I have seen

actually you are rioght - between that final (gerrard) and the semi (keane) is tight. both players knew that if they didn't personally take the game then they were beat.
