We actually got James Milner for £49M plus Sterling which is a great piece of business in anyones eyes!!

Are you not paying Milner about £100k a week more than you paid Sterling? Thats an extra £20m over the course of his contract. Eats in to the £35m you'll get from the Sterling fee.

We would have given a similar salary to Sterling if he had stayed here. So no. Also cut our wage bill big time this summer.

I'm glad the matters been resolved. Sterling doesn't deserve to wear the shirt and we have received ample compensation.

At the moment no one knows if is a good deal or not.
From a City point of view, if he develops like he should and they get 12 years service from a top player, then bargain. If he doesn't
'or becomes injury prone, then not so much.
With Pool, if he turns out not so good, then they have done well. If he turns out the star some think, then less so, unless they can replace like for like.

It only takes one injury and he'll lose a yard it two for pace. He's not the most grounded player either, so the price tag and expectation might weigh heavy on him with any luck... Maybe he knows he has to cash in while his stock is high because he might go the way of Aaron Lennon or SWP. So promising as youngsters but never quite realising the expectations.

I think Ibe will slot nicely in his place.
