Just managed to catch up with all the fights this weekend and wanted to do a quick review of the Thurman fight.
The fight itself was a very interesting fight, actually it was a lot more interesting than i first anticipated. Thurman started the fight well, pretty much displaying his intentions from the first minute,he wanted to get Collazo out of there. In round 2 he was landing some really nice crisp body shots and that right hand was tagging Collazo at will.
Rounds 3-4 were better rounds from Collazo because he finally start taking chances and trying to land shots on Thurman. Of course Thurman was very disciplined and he was picking his shots better Then the fights turning point came, in the 5th round Collazo caught Thurman with a well placed body punch which had Thurman in some serious pain and at one point he was curled up like a cat. Thurman got through to the bell and 6th saw Collazo pushing the pace again and quite rightly looking for the body. Thurman was moving a lot and Collazo was stalking him down and getting the better of him in the exchanges. Thurman however restored order by taking the 7th with some nice movement and right hands. Collazo was pretty bloodied up by the end of the round and the doctors went to check on him and to me it looked like Collazo quit. He didn't want to continue which gave Thurman the win.
Overall it was a good fight. Thurman looked dominant in large parts of the fight but he was hurt in the 5th and he was eating some big punches in the 6th too. However he got the win that he was supposed to and credit to Collazo who once again shows that he is still a tough fight for anyone.
Who's next for Thurman? Honestly I do not think he can beat Floyd. Can he beat Manny? I am not too sure about that either. He gets hit when he shouldn't and his defence has always had question marks around it. He has power but it isn't as crazy as some have had it out to be. Having said that, I'd like to see him in there with Brook or Khan next. Those 3 guys are the top 3 in the division and we need to see match ups between them.
Thoughts on the fight?

That body shot he got caught with would've floored King Kong, I have no idea how he stayed up. It wasn't a short left hook, Collazo go full extension on it as a southpaw and put his full power behind, perfectly placed.
He survived like a champ though, we've seen many fighters get folded by shots like that, your body shuts down if you take a proper one to the liver.
Other than that, I didn't think Keith was at his best although he won every round other than the 5th. He wasn't throwing enough and apparently his left hand was hurt coming into the fight.
I'd like to see him fight Porter or Danny next.

Thurman always fights like that, he hasn't got an inside game so when somebody puts pressure on him and tries to get inside, he uses his feet to keep the distance. He can't fight in the pocket.
I thought he was pretty comfortable throughout, except the last 30 seconds of round 5 after getting caught with that body shot.

Nothing more he could have done, Thurman bit down and used his feet.
Still can't believe he didn't take a knee. A shot like that to the liver shuts your whole body down and you can't breath.

He asked good questions. More reporters need to challenge boxers
