Valdes

He's been dropped from the squad that travelled on tour. Obviously not rated by the hierarchy which is a bit of a surprise.

With De Gea likely to be going, Valdes going and probably looking for a move and Lindegaard in the complete wilderness, either United have another keeper "lined up" or LvG is going to play a radical system with Rush Goalies?!

Some fans might get excitied about this drastic overhaul that we're having season after season but i actually miss the days when we had a settled squad and we were only looking for the odd addition to tweak it. Buying 6 or 7 players each summer might get the juices flowing from Panini Sticker collectors and FIFA nerds but it rarely works in assembling a team thats going to hit the ground running.

Smart business sense means we don't let players like DDG walk away for nothing. People might think we're minted but losing £20-25 million is still a huge amount.

There is also the circus of next season where DDG knows from January (if he stays) that he's going to Madrid and potentially phones it in. Especially if he had his heart set on leaving this summer.

There are even some fans who crazily think if we force him to stay that he might sign a new contract. Insane. Never gonna happen.

Best thing we can do is see where the Ramos thing heads and if he stays then negotiate a fair fee for both parties - about £22-23 million and go buy Oblak or someone of that ilk and not have the 2016/2017 be a season of transition where we have to bed in a new keeper.

Yeah I agree on that point. It's about time we stood up to them.

We can't keep harking on about being the biggest club in the world (even if commerically we now are) if we continually sell our best players to that mob.

Keep him another season and anything could happen. We could even win title and persuade him to stay. Long shot I know but not out of question.

We really need to get Lloris tapped up though for next summer. If Spurs fail at top 4 once again, he'll be easier to get as I'd imagine he'd want out then anyway. Could cost us a few quid but we have it.

You are ignoring the cold facts everybody has pointed out to you.

Madrid don't seem to want to pay £20m+, so realistically we'd only be turning down about £15m.

Where is it a cold fact that they don't wanna pay that? As far as i'm aware we want Ramos as part of the deal - which is what's holding up the deal. Once the Ramos aspect goes away i've no doubt they'd pay more than £20 million

We bid for Ramos, Madrid haven't bid for De Gea.

So you're clearly not aware of the facts.

If they haven't bid for DDG why do you think they only wanna pay £15 million?

If Champions League qualification is worth 10-15 million a season to us as a club and De Gea's saves could be the difference between qualifying or not, i dont see why we have to accept a figure for less than that.
i dont think Real were offering anything like that sort of cash and we're obvisouly playing hardball. I like it! Real Madrid are seriously arrogant. Whilst all clubs are linked with players they think it an open day to talk about players that arent theirs. Even they're fans were supposidly singing his name but he is still our player! they can do one!

I am not saying DDG will stay but if we keep him past this summer he could also begin to get nervous around half way through if he hasn't signed a contract. He could get a career ending/threatening injury (hopefully not) which could mean that he would lose out an an awful lot of money in the future.

There is value in keeping him for me as a) he is an excellent keeper and b) he may yet decide to stay. A lot can change in a year and it may be that a compromise is reached in that he signs a new deal with a, let's say, 30mil release clause. This could especially happen if Real do not decide to persue him this year. Remember we have shown that we want him whereas Real have shown no indication of that as of yet.

If there is interest there I genuinely believe that he would be torn on what to do. I couldn't blame him for wanting to go home but it would be much easier for him, and his girlfriend/family, if he went to Atletico rather than Real.

Because if they were willing to meet our demand, or even get close, they'd have made an offer by now.

Nobody wants to sign 6 players every summer and nobody believes that we will.

We need a massive overhaul right now but once it's complete we will go back to a normal transfer policy of signing one or two players each year to augment our squad.

There is little point in maintaining a consistent squad full of dead wood. That was the mistake that Moyes made.

If you think this squad could get back to challenging for the league and CL without a major overhaul then you are living in a dream world and need to take a reality pill.
