I am not sure FIFA can really win here, can they?

Most of the larger nations in Europe tend to get easy groups, England just have to accept that as a fact.

Surely it is good to sacrifice qualifying fixtures which only occupy your thoughts during an exciting season of club football rather than seeing many of the top European nations drawn against each other in qualifying and thus a poorer final tournament?

Who knows, it is not impossible that Scotland and England win every game against the other four teams in their group and essentially have to sort it out in two games against each other. England would be clear favourites, but it may transpire to be a little bit more exciting than your European Championships qualifiers.

Hodgson should probably be gone by the time these qualifiers come around, you'd probably hope Scotland stick with Strachan in order to at least make a go of it for a while.

Im more interested in if Hodgson gets the sack so Carrick gets to play in a tournament
