Evening all,
Do you think we are done for summer now?
I feel like we could still benefit from a deep lying CM to pick the ball up from defence and bring the play to the forwards with more zip than Lucas & Allen offer.
I really like Emre Can, and would love him to make that position his own. However he hasn't played it so far for us and I can actually see him in CB after his stint in the back 3 last year.
If we do choose to invest, I would love to see Illaramendi come in. He has had a poor stint at Real Madrid, but was hailed as the new Alonso before joining. He wouldn't be the first young talent to be taken into Real and not make it. Reports of £14M sound a good deal for a young Spanish international, who could sit alongside Henderson for years to come.
On the topic of Spaniards, there is news today I keep reading that we have contacted PSG over Lucas Digne to be brought in to provide cover for Moreno. I actually feel Moreno can kick on this year. A full pre season and a potentially more settled defence can allow his defensive game to flourish as he is more than competent whilst attacking. If anything, I would like to see Joe Gomez as backup, it would really aid his growth.
Thoughts on any new incomings? Or will it just be outgoings now?
Are we done for summer?

Will be interesting to see if Moreno does kick on. The way he defends is all wrong for the PL and can be lightweight. With Enrique out in the cold we do need LB cover.

I don't really agree with this Kash. He struggled as a wing back with the inside ball but early doors was jockying well and going to ground only when necessary.
I like him.

I think Moreno is overrated.
He doesn't defend well and for all the talk of his attacking it's no great shakes.
He is still young and can improve but he needs to.

Deffo overated by some of us but has alot of potential so can see why, I'm expecting a big improvement. Glad he wasnt stupidly priced

Moreno reminds me of a young JAR. Defensively wobbly, but bright going forward, if not the most effective, and certainly capable of a goal.
I don't think we're definitely done, but any further business relies on players going out.
Unfortunately, Borini, Balotelli and Enrique don't seem to be eager to go anywhere.

Wont get near Riise. He actually offers nothing going forward or defensively must improve lots

Not fair to say he offers nothing offensively. He's got a decent cross, but he had nothing to aim at last year. I think he could have a better time with Benteke in there this year.

No I disagree again.
I like his mentality, I think he can handle playing for us, he has a very good touch and you'll find few quicker over 10-15 yards especially on the turn. He has balance and although he's not a gifted crosser he can pass under pressure.
I hate to say it but he reminds me of Evra who was shiiiiit in his first season. I could be wrong but he has the tools.

The way I look at it is that he's the same age as me. Playing for Liverpool week in, week out would scare the bejeesus out of me. I think it's something that takes time mentally, and we probably don't give players enough leeway in that regard.

I agree and think he suffered with the team. His defending for the Bellarin goal was genuinely amateur and he can certainly improve.
But he kept trying stuff and I think he'll be okay.
He can't manipulate a ball when crossing though (in fact Clyne ain't great either) and has bad technique in that regard. If we play a diamond I think we'll struggle for quality delivery wide.

I think that's fair. The whole team was error-prone, and the biggest statement you can make about Moreno is that he didn't hide.
And I agree that he's no David Beckham, however I think with someone as dominant as Christian Benteke, an average to decent cross that's reasonably in the right area is something to work with.
He hardly had Giggs and Figo supplying him at Villa, let's be fair.
