AW needs to at least look to bring players with defensive and combative qualities, who have height and power. There are many players from clubs not in Europe with potential who would come, especially in the premiership. Samba, Dann, Parker, Rowell or Fellaini if you can persuade Everton to sell etc. We need to at least make this team difficult to beat.
I just feel AW is struggling to attract the attacking quality he wants. I feel that players are skeptical whether a move to Arsenal at this point is wise. Especially if they see a team that cant defend. I feel usually most players would love to join our club, but with the departure of Fabregas and Nasri, combined with the lack of quality coming in, the severe unrest within fans, the huge pressure currently put on the club and the current wage structure compared to the other big clubs players may feel Arsenal is not the right move.
So maybe this is an opportunity to build from the back and change our defensive style. It may be easier to attract defensive and combative player especially from clubs not in Europe. Attacking players may be a bit frightened to play for a team where their talents may be wasted because we cant defend.
Just a thought.

It is amazing what goes on with Arsenal, whatever the results nobody is ever asked to be accounatble for his performance. Excuses are fabricated or invented after each match and nobody is ever called out, that's a bad culture for getting results. Anybody in management knows that but in Arsenal it is just an open policy to excuse the non-performers. How does Arsene think things can get better if players are not asked to perform better or be punished for not performing? Image that with SAF??
Secondly, we fans are now asked to be happy because the team is in a better financial position. OK, so they want us to go cheer a succesful corporate model in a football stadium every week-end?
And if Arsenal is indeed financially so succesful but never invests in winning, what should we fans than be happy about? That we are making a few obscure individuals very rich? Shall we go cheering every week that Stan the man is richer again and that we worship that? Someone was writing that if the board were responsible for apple they would sell iPod, iPad and all other products just to show how much money thay make.. that's a very smart way of putting the Arsenal board in perspective.
And the question remains if it is in fact such a succesful model for the longer run if you disregard the one aspect that makes or breaks football teams, namely the fans? If fans come and watch you, sponsors, TV etc will gladly follow, if not your revenue will reduce fast. If fans pay the highest prices in the country to support the team but the fans' needs, like buying exciting players and/or winning throphies (you can ask for that as the best paying fan no?) is never really part of the thinking you might be running a riskier business model than you think.
Arsene's statements of having money but not finding the right players is baffling as all other top managers do that easily, it simply means that he and the 20 others that work on finding those players should be removed from their responsibilities, they clearly are not fit for the job.
Moving to Emirates was a huge mistake, the corporate soulless temple of today's syncial corporate world, it is there to make money for the few and we fans don't even get the games or bread we ask for, we have regressed since the Romans. The emperors were at least aware that you had to keep the people happy.
Not going well with the Gunners and no end in sight if the fans are not staying away.

I hate the emirates our style of play just doesnt work there. Remember the good times at highbury you'd see Lauren getting to the by-line & cutting it back in the box & 1-0 to Arsenal. We dont do that anymore.

Times have changed from when AW first arrived at Arsenal, his innovative methods are no longer that, everyone has caught up and now over-taken us. And the sad part is he won't or can't change.
His stubborness in not buying players we need (not as a luxury but as neccessity) is killing the squad slowly but surely. The move to the Emirates was supposed to let us compete with these teams but all it has done is sent us in the opposite direction.

I think that Djourou just does not have a suffeiciently combative spirit, and signing both Alex and Cahill, for example, would be excellent. With Kos and TV we will have a solid CB foundation, with Miquel able to be played in a number of games as appropriate - CC, FAC etc. to aid hie development. A decent LB should be sufficient, and possibly a CM who can supplement JW.
Additionally we could revamp the defence coaching - possibly bring in a George Graham equivalent, and let Arsene get on with attacking play!

im hearing from a mate in italy is that wenger is interested in Ivan Cordoba from Inter Milan would be free transfer signing. Experienced Colombian international slightly old at 35 years tho.

It's always the same, he says he looks for the right players, what he means is he looks for the cheap players.. he has a 20 man team to look around in planet football and he comes up with cordoba as the "right player"? Why does Arsene think we are all idiots, he has left as a football manger to become the financial manager and that is the harsh thruth. Anybody thinks that doing away with Wenger is bad is delusional, he has left already anyway. If only he had continued doing what he is good at, but no he had to prove he is also a top corporate manager, the delusion

We'll just have to hope that all the other top teams suffer a Double-Dip recession.
At least Wenger could spend some of his own £7m salary on players that take his fancy - like the Ox, and we could then spend the same amount of money on a decent CB - would have been so much better yesterday if we had spent the money on Jose Enrique and Scott Dann, instead of a pointless super-sub.
