I can't help thinking that yesterday's game is actually a blessing in disguise. IMO the result could have easily been t other way around. We played ok at times and Green made a couple of good saves and McGugan and miller both put just over t bar.
But yesterday showed our weak and not up to standard defence. Though I'm sure SM knows we need to bolster t squad but it was highlighted for all to see yesterday we now need better than Morgan and Chambers. Chambers is ok but I think Morgan has become complacent due to lack of competition for places. Lynch at left back is t best option of all our choices.
If we had won yesterday I think these problems would have been papered over and t pursuit for attacking players would have been top of t list. Hopefully the defeat has highlighted to t board once and for all what is required.
Boetang plays with passion and can actually do a job for us but I feel Greening needs to realise that he is going to have to up his game and I think that Reid can offer us nothing.
Miller and Findley, however, I think are t answer. With Dexter and Matt D pushing for places I think we'll be ok up front
What if we'd won 4 - 1?

I agree so I've awarded you 5stars!
SMC knows we need a left back he just doesn't want to get into a stand off with the complacent board.
I remember Forest thrashing the Hammers 5-0 Lloyd wouldn't let their keeper [Middleton i think] touch the ball! Poor Middleton the experience did for him.

I've always been a Forest optimist!! But if we had put our chances away things definitely would have been different. We had eight chances on target to their six and had more chances off target than them.

I believe, if memory serves that John Middleton didn't leave untill the Clough Taylor partnership bought Peter Shilton.
Yesterday was a shambles and raises questions over tactics, motivation and man-management not forgetting player aquisition.

I do see where you're coming from Dutch. Firstly the first goal was very important, especially against a side who can hurt you the way West Ham showed yesterday.
A good example of papering over the cracks was two seasons ago when we had Shorey. He was sent off against Reading (we still won 2-1). Our next game was against QPR and Perch was put in at left back, we won 5-0 (had we got one more we would have gone top) and Perch even scored the fifth. Billy was still saying we needed a left back and the board must have been thinking he was talking a load of 'you know what'. As it was of course the rest is history.
Had we got a result yesterday it could well have been a similar story.
