So Cech has had a miserable first day at the office. Got to admit, I'm disappointed with him, but mainly because I expected better because he's a top keeper with a great track record. I'm sure he will come good and will save us more points than he costs us, although his first performance will take a while to forgive.
What I'm curious about, though, is why he's even getting this opportunity. After waiting time after time for Szczesny to mess up before finally getting his chance and taking it with both hands, why has Ospina been left in the cold? Surely his performances last season, flawless for the most part, warrant him keeping his starting place? It's like Wenger decided that, because he was criticized for being too lenient on Szczesny, he should counter by being too harsh on Ospina and replacing him by a 'better' keeper simply because he could.
Although I'm sure the Czech will come good, I disagree with Ospina not being starter. Cech has 2-3 good years, tops, whereas Ospina has 8 or 9 and gained the confidence of his defence last year, while in a single game, Cech might have already lost it.
On the basis of his record for us, Ospina should have been given more of a chance.
Double standards

I think you're wrong mate.
Things like this are mental and this could be the end for Cech whose confidence was low anyway having be ousted by a kid.

Possibly mate, but that's not really the crux of the article. What I really want to know is why Cech has replaced Ospina, and why the Colombian didn't deserve to keep his place.

True, I do think Wenger isn't ruthless enough, but I also think one game would be too soon to axe a player. However, after a few games, if Cech hasn't convinced, he should be dropped. Wenger's problem is that he persists with players far longer than that.
