It's a shame Wenger refuses to use pace down the wings as we could be very devastating with the options we have.
Wenger's always been a fan of playing with one quick winger with a playmakerish winger on the other flank ala Ljungberg and Pires. I get it.
What he's forgetting is that he had a lightening quick Henry up top who made all the runs and stretched play.
He needed to play Walcott up top yesterday instead of Giroud.
Giroud comes deep to get the ball and makes our already crowded midfield crowded.
Whenever he's playing we need to have pace on both wings to make up for his lack of pace.
We knew Wenger wasn't the best tactically. But how hard is it to understand that?
Wenger's Refusal To Use Width

It's ironic because pace down the wings is our biggest weakness defensively.
Everytime we lose it's because the other team has had direct pacy forwards and even though Wenger sees this every season he still doesn't understand that it is the best way to score goals.
He seems to have reverted to his previous philosophy of controlling games. Maybe it's a response to LVG being in the league but either way we play best when we absorb pressure and then counter with devastating speed.

Wengers best teams have all contained pace out wide and pace through the middle...
I am baffled as to why he has gone against this plan now.
once we had Cole, Pires, Henry, Wiltord, Vieria and even Freddie breaking forward, now we play the ball around for 10 mins before losing it and being short at the back.
we have players with pace, walcott, bellerin, Ox, alexis for example, they just need to be used better.
a pacey forward would be a good buy this summer.

i've said it for months GT, you cant play ozil or cazorla down the left and blame the cf for not doing well, if it wasn't for monreal every attack would come down the right

And because our CF got no balls he played on the left wing and had to cross the ball and people want him to get on the ball at the same time.
You know there is something serious wrong when that happen. But this is not his only problem.
To get on the ball and being involved he needs to pick up the balls from our midfield as well because otherwise he wouldnt even touched the ball.
Ramsey lost the ball in midfield a thousand times and our passing and link up play from into the final third was atrocious. That has absolute nothing to do with Giroud having no pace.

This....And Wenger need to tell him that his first task it to support the DM that is Coquelin and do first the basic right before he begins with the Hollywood stuff.

he's playing in a box to box role but only ever helps with attack, watch him when we defend he stands generally near players never commiting to marking just hanging about waiting to attack
