This is positive......................it is
Those who don't rate him he is a vital player for Villa.
Seems we may not be finished on transfers in and out think we still need a back up CB and RB but some of these midfielders and strikers are more than promising.
Lets see that may be it but No Ade No Berby No Joey Barton

Westwood is a very good player. It's his job to win the ball and keep possession rather than play 50:50 balls. He is also a very good crosser of the ball.
Some don't like him because he doesn't do any thing spectacular, overlookin the fact that those players who can do this only do it once in a blue moon. Over the course of a season Westwood will be one of our most effective players.
Those that criticise him are the same sort of people (those with a superficial understanding of the game) who used to get on the backs of Gareth Barry, and even Dennis Mortimer. Remember that?

I think really he has a good role in the team. If you sit him behind 2 roaming midfielders like Gueye and Veretout which it looks like Sherwood wants to do. I dont really see him in a 2 pairing in a 442 but he is definitely effective at what he does. The midfield this season has a lot of potential and depth and it's great to see. Cant help feel the only missing piece of the jigsaw is a quality right back.

Don't want to slate him too much as seems he has a fair amount of backing on here but I personally would prefer to see Sanchez breaking up the play as he has done it on the world stage and I genuinely think he could be quality for us given the chance. I know Sanchez had some bad games last season (Arsenal away springs to mind) but Westwood has played in some of the worst games I've seen from Villa such as that 8-0 defeat at Chelsea. Westwood is ok for the squad but imo not a starter, would either play Gueye and Veretout as a two with someone in front of them or play Sanchez. If Sanchez could learn not to play hollywood passes and focus on breaking up the play and playing it short he could be really good for us. That's my opinion anyway. He was a key player for Colombia in their run to the quarter finals of the WC and again played well in their Copa America run this summer.
Hopefully Adama Traore to sign today and perhaps one or two others before the deadline. Praet and Abdennour would be amazing

Think there's a place for both Sanchez and Westwood, although not always at the same time. With the number of new faces then I'm finding it hard to figure out how Sherwood wants to play things, but my guess is that he wants to be able to change things round for different matches, also to be able to rest players at certain points in the season.
If Sanchez and Westwood both play then they can form a defensive pair for certain matches, but also Westwood can play further forwards than Sanchez.
