Well, how the mighty are fallen. Look at where Wigan were just two seasons ago, and look at them now. For Rovers, Thursday's game and win on penalties against the Weeds will have really lifted the confidence levels.
Albeit after Cook was sent off, the Rovers controlled the game and as is usually the case, they produced a large number of chances, but failed to put any of them away. The biggest culprit as Lanzo has said was Copps who could have had at least four if he had had his accuracy boots on.
Two things I took from pre- season highlights and that game were that Stuckmann needs to learn how to parry a ball to safety, not straight to an opposition player.
Secondly, Curtis Main has a lot to do to get his confidence back. Maybe as has been said he needs to go on loan to a lower league side and to score a few goals against poorer opposition. If that doesn't work then I think we need to cut our losses because at the moment he is a big liability.
The game is an early one 6.30 am in the Midwest and 4.30 am for the likes of PDXmickey However, let's hope we enjoy another good win..
LET'S GO ROVERS
Wigan v ROVERS

Fouls at corners and free kicks are not all one way.
You regularly see defenders being blocked off and somebody standing in front of the goalie.
If I was the referee I would give a foul every time a player stood in front of the goalie, for obstruction. If I saw a player grabbing another player it would be an indirect free kick for obstruction.
I appreciate that these are proper fouls, but penalties are harsh for two players effectively "jostling"!
It would be my attempt at a compromise.
BTW NY, well done and best wishes for a long and happy future!

Agreed about the jostling and yes it is a two way thing.
However, the thing that pees me off is the defender who only looks at the player he is marking without even looking at the ball.
The defender then only has one intention and that is to block the run of the attacker.
He does it by any means, holding especially and that is the one that should be a penalty.
It is never given though.

It's getting like American Football and I know we look back with rose - coloured vision, but it didn't used to be such a problem.
I think Dr A's comments are very wise. Perhaps obstruction as opposed to a foul tackle with just a free kick in the area would give refs the perfect alternative to a penalty too, but that may necessitate a Law change.

Well he's already FAILED twice Hound so he can't get any worse! The majority of your posts on here is spent being snide and attacking anyone who dares to suggest Dickov is a poor manager which in reality he is

Azza, dont talk c rap.
The majority of my posts on here are constructive and just because the majority of posters (probably 8 or 9) are against PD whatever he does then my posts are seen by you and some others to be snide, or whatever else you care to call them.
I dont know how you can say he has failed twice.
Last season he was backed into a corner by the LT/JR failed takeover and the reality is that he did what was asked of him, that is to stabilise the club.
It would have been very easy for the club to have "done a Yeovil" with the way things were up to the turn of the year.
We all know that he lacked anything but a threadbare squad until Christmas and then after we got into a top six spot for a short while the expectation level went up.
Only a fool can fail to see that he was on a hiding to nothing last season.
The season before, yes ok we got relegated.
We were unlucky to go down and i agree that one point from the last seven games was poor but some of the scoring chances that were missed were astonishing and if just one of them had gone in we would have stayed up.
That and Boltons collapse against Birmingham of course.
If we ever do get promoted back then we we still struggle to stay up whoever is the manager.
This season he has had a full pre season for the first time and has put together a decent squad so we will now get the genuine chance to see if he can do the business.
I really do think that some of the few posters on here would like us to have a bad season so that they can keep their knives out for Dickov and hope he gets the sack.
You should also read more carefully some of the posts put on here by one or two posters in particular who ALWAYS find a reason to have a go at PD irrespective of what the match outcome has been.
Some of the comments are quite frankly, pathetic.

with how you react to what people on here post it's far from "constructive"
I can quite easily say how we have failed twice! Our championship season our aim was to stay up am I not right? The following season in the league one aim was to get promoted at the first attempt am I not right? This is two failed seasons. The aims were also set out after the so-called take over saga which seems to come around and save him at the end of each of the two poor seasons. If I could be bothered I would travel back through the interviews and provide The quotes. So they've not been good seasons and hence why when he spouts off one thing and delivers the other it's quite annoying. Not just on here many people who go feel the same.
So far from c rap as you put it you don't need to go far to see and hear!
I guess you've still not picked up your toys you threw out towards the end of last season

Azza, pathetic attempt at being funny in that last sentence.
Moving on, no you are not right.
The aim last season was stability, this was set out after the failed takeover.
The so called promotion at the first attempt was spouted by JR and LT during their propsed takeover.
Sorry, but you are wrong.
As for me being constructive, well yes i am.
I put my opinions on here just the same as you do.
I can enter into discussions with other posters on here and they respond as they wish to.
I have had sarcastic remarks back from donaldo, you, yankee and lanza but it hasn't bothered me.
Why should you have a dickie fit if i dare to post an opinion that is different to yours.
By the way, i didnt throw any toys out last season.
I just got fed up of being the only person on here who didnt whinge most of the time.
Apparently i upset donaldo so i took the decision to leave you all to your private party for a while.
As for not needing to go far to hear the Dickov out cries, well although most of the few that post here do want him gone, on other forums the vote is more of a 50-50 and in the ground it is much the same so dont try to tell me that evryone wants him out.
Did you hear the Black Bank boys sing the Paul Dickovs Barmy Army song aginst Leeds?
