Arsenal yet to go 'all in' on Benzema

Personally I've always doubted that Real Madrid would sell Benzema, but The Telegraph today is saying this:

Arsenal have taken a significant step towards signing Karim Benzema after Real Madrid accepted a £48m bid for the striker.

That's according to former player Rodney Marsh, who told talkSPORT (Yeah, so it must be true then) that a contact of his, who he claims has never been wrong on such matters, confirmed that Arsenal have made an official approach.

Marsh said: “I had a phone call from a mate of mine, and he’s been right on many things, and he said that he believes Real Madrid have accepted a bid somewhere in the region of £48million for Benzema from Arsenal.

“In the past this guy has always been right, he’s never been wrong yet, so we’ll have to wait and see.”

Well, I guess we will "wait and see." I'd be delighted if we signed a decent striker, and certainly Benzema fits the bill IMHO, but £48m, from Arsenal!!?

Real Madrid are clearly holding out for a huge amount of money. Probably around the £60m they sold ADM for.

If he is the difference between us winning the league and finishing 4th again, then he is worth every last penny.
And even if it didn't work, look at Di Maria, sure they took a hit, but for a loss of say,£15m it is worth the gamble.Who Dares Wins, my son, Who Dares Wins!

Sod it, let's offer £100m then.

There are very few players, if any, who would make us overwhelming favourites for the league, much less guarantee anything, and Benzema isn't one of them, so spunking way over market value on him is foolish.

That said, it's not my money, so if we signed him I wouldn't really care how much for.
