"Maynard Will Join Tommorow" - Stringer

StringerSport Ian Stringer
I think Nicky Maynard will join #lcfc tomorrow for a fee of over £5m, could be wrong - saga

Good news I think. It's the first time Stringer's stuck his neck out like that since the Nugent thing so you'd think he'd be very confident of it happening. He does still remain the most reliable source we have and I think the 'could be wrong bit' is done just to cover his back.

If it is true, I think Bristol city have made a hash of the situation and now won't be able to spend any of the money to replenish their squad.

I think fourth official is still very credible.

He was the first to announce Sebastien Coates move to liverpool, and no one bothered reporting that til a couple of days ago!

@FraserMcdiarmid fee will be accepted today, and talks will be held today between Maynard and #lcfc #bcfc

#LCFC are expected to complete the signing of #BristolCity striker Nicky Maynard before deadline. £6m fee good business.

No idea who these two are but FootballRascal does have over 1000 followers so he/she might be reliable.

Will believe it when I see it, your right its been poorly handled..... still I dont think it will happen, the vibe down here is that he will stay, but tomorrow night we will know for sure. 6 million and i'd be happy, but even happier if we could spend it!

^^Probably not the greatest of sources^^, then again what is, poor journalism is rife these days. Especially when the player is outside of the prem and they dont need much research to make a story.

Nickys partner is due to give birth to there first child in 2 days this friday trust me he aint going knowhere. Spoke to Nicky after the Donny match asking if he was going to another club by deadline day. He said unless a prem club comes to the table then im not interested.

I'm not sure it has been poorly handled. Every time we get a bid rejected, we keep coming back with a bigger one. The only way Bristol have handled it poorly is that they wouldn't get to spend the money if they accepted it. Meanwhile, we just look increasingly desperate and willing to pay anything. Just say no again and you'll be offer £7m tomorrow! (And then probably £8m right at the transfer deadline.)

Even so, it's now reached the point where a lot of people would be breaking their word for this transfer to go through. Either Maynard isn't interested in coming to us or he's playing along with bluff upon bluff. I don't think it'll happen, but if it does many will be upset with the way it's happened.

Your right, especially if the fee is undisclosed, damn I hate that word!

Now that this bid for Jelavic has been announced, I genuinely believe that the Maynard bid is dead and buried.

So do I and have done for quite some time.

I honestly believe it is the player who is driving this. Despite BCFC fans stating that their chairman doesn't need the money it simply makes no business sense to turn down £6m for a player refusing to sign a new contract. This is not how people get rich in the first place.

I honestly think that NM has never had any intention of signing for another Championship club and has only withheld his signature on a contract from BCFC to generate interest from the PL. No offer has yet been forthcoming. BCFC must know this and, therefore, have been able to play hardball with Leicester's offers.

Not withstanding a late offer from the PL I thoroughly expect NM to sign a 1 year extension to his contract with BCFC. It is the only logical outcome to this saga (unless the BCFC board are completely insane).

From an LCFC point of view, I just wish we'd focussed on more attainable targets some time ago, although I've always suspected that we'd end up with a loanee from the Premier League.
