Why?

Everton are not going to give in , theyve become very obstinate , even though exhorbitant money is being offered. I d say we save the money now and up the bid for Pogba

We have made very generous offers and if they aren't what Everton are looking for so be it. If we really want Stones we will try again and if he really wants to come he will think about that before renewing his contract, thing is a lot can happen over a year or two and we may have a suitable player for that position by then.

Looks like we will have to wait a while longer before we get that 2nd youngster we need for the longer term.

That's the thing. To a club like Barca he's a nobody. John Stones isn't a world class talent he's just an English prospect which only appeals to EPL teams. He will only leave for a big club so it's basically between the top 4. City? Nah they're stacked in defence now. Arsenal? They only spend £30+m on attackers, plus they need to sort Chambers out. It's basically between United and Chelsea and who knows how that would go. Smalling/Stones would be basically both England and United pairings. That may appeal to him more.

Hasn't run it's course, going to the wire.
