As transfer deadline looms closer by the hour.
Has Wenger got anything up his sleeve? After all, he and his scout team has had 4-5 seasons to look for a decent striker, and 10 seasons to look for a decent DM until the 'Coq' accident happened.
Is he scheming something or is he expecting another 'Coq moment' to happen?

Castore spent all last summer saying we will sign one player max then went off on one after we signed 6.

We've clearly had some informal chat with Real 45 million is plenty and change, for Benzema. It's one thing to put in a substantial bid, it's another thing entirely to turn around pull your pants down and bend over and let Real stick it to you.

We should've had more than one target but it seems like as usual it was all eggs in one basket so we've essentially pulled our own pants down by having sub standard strikers for a 4th season running. Which would you prefer?

I would prefer everyone stop moaning about a striker when for the last four seasons you speak of, it is goals against that has cost us, not goals for.
This "fix leaking goals with a striker who will score more" mentality that a bunch of fans have (some of whom are bright and wise enough to know better). Is getting a bit silly.
By all means do your nut if we haven't signed a midfielder who can defend and pass. But anyone who thinks it's more important to get upset over the striker, really can't see the forest for the trees.
A marquee striker is not the priority signing since he won't be able to win us the league without the midfielder issue addressed anyway. However the midfielder alone could see a big reduction in goals leaked plus a far more stable attacking platform, consistently getting the best out of the attackers we have.

The club are shooting themselves in the foot. Now my expectations are that they wont sign anyone and I will be very disappointed with that. If they sign anyone of a lower level I will also be disappointed and will probably jump on the WOB bandwagon which is sure to raise its head again. But if they sign a top striker like Cavani I will just think think its about time that they got a player they should have signed years ago.
So the club cant win and make me think they have puled off a great deal, unless maybe if hey get Messi or Ronaldo but I cant see that happening.

Well top strikers believe it or not can help a team defensively even if it's just by striking fear into the opposition and making them more cautious when attacking, thus making it easier to defend. Not saying that's going sort all the defensive leaks but it may help.
And we're not exactly jumping to sign defensive players either by the look of things, so whatever you think the priority is we still haven't sorted it out. Really we should've been going out and signing both, but failing that at least one should be being brought in. No excuses can be made there.
