When We Got Özil

Despite Phil McNulty's claims that Arsenal are definitely up to something, I'm not so sure. When we got Özil, for example, a lot of the pieces were obvious for a while. The Bale move meant that players would be moving and we had at least rumours that we were after one, two or even three of Özil, Di Maria and Benzema. That there are no rumours, no whispers or anything screams to me that we are done in the market. I can't see any big pieces moving in our favour. I don't see a huge player coming in the next few days.

What I'm trying to say is that I believe we're stuck with what we've got this time.

We aren't done.

With the current status quo our only hope of getting the targets we want is to wait it out until deadline day and hope that we can prize someone decent away in the last couple of hours. Time deadlines do funny things to some clubs.

If we don't get anyone then that is fair enough. There is no point paying twice a players worth.

I wouldn't be surprised if we pulled off one big signing but I doubt it will be enough to sway the PL odds in our favour given how much City have done in the market and how ominously strong they currently look.

I can't quite see why it matters what we pay from a fans' perspective if we get the kind of player we need. If we'd already spent £50m+ then yeah but we've spent nowhere near. I'd rather see us pay well over the odds to get the players we need most than go without and essentially throw in the towel on any realistic title chances for another season.

This is very true. I'm all for sustainable spending, but we fans are all turning into accountants

Not buying anyone don't delude yourselves. Accept that it's going to be another 4th place finish

feels the same as pre Ozil signing to me, loads of money to spend. Deadline day will be manic

I can't see us signing a real big name on deadline day, unless something unexpected comes up. Can see us doing a welbeck type signing again, then Wenger thinking he'll see how it goes til January. Seemed to do a similar thing last year with the CB situation.
