£26m for a want-away with 1 year left on contract?

Excellent business. Navas a (dubious) bonus.

Exactly, don't know why redinthehead is getting all giddy

It's good if finances are your primary goal.

The problem is we put ourselves in this stupid position and all things considering it probably is the best deal we could do. But while I don't know enough of Navas I believe keeping de Gea would have given us the best chance of doing well this season.

I just personally think the way this club have gone about sorting out the 2 most important areas, GK and ST over the past couple years has been an absolute farce and that's putting it mildly.

People whinging for the sake of it IMO
Kudos to the club for not bending over and getting everything they can for ddg

How is his different to letting a player rot in reserves or on the bench that everyone always advocates?

Kudos to the club for having the balls to make him stay and potentially lose him for a free and in the end getting a good deal.

As for navas and being a keeper we don't want then let's apply the logic of other teams and say he is worth £5m well that's £31m isn't it for ddg?

If you don't want him, he's just a liability. He would only be worth £5m if you'd pay £5m to have him.

If you didn't have DDG, would you pay £5m for Navas?

You missed the point

Even if navas is a £5 its still £5 more from RM.

Navas isn't all that bad as a keeper but even if he signs today and we sell him on Tuesday for £100 its another £100 from RM so ddg was 26m +100

Either that or you have to buy another keeper for £20m and Navas runs down his contract banking his wages.

Bringing a player in is a commitment.

Nope you've missed the point.

You won't sell him on Tuesday. And having a player come in means you either put him in the squad, taking a squad place, or you don't and keep paying him.

Most players are drains on resource, liabilities so to speak.

You won't realise the £5m on Navas and will over the course of a couple of years pay out the same in wages for him.

That's why you shouldn't see it as an extra £5m from Real Madrid.

If anything you've helped Madrid out by taking him off their books.

None of what i or you say matters if lvg wanted him anyway as some reports suggest.

I was making the point your lot made with Chelsea paying for Carroll, in essence. I didn't believe that either butvit has been funny watching people mocking who argued that at the time.

Hence the "apply logic of other teams" comment

What? Where have you alluded to the Andy Carroll scenario?

Youve said Navas is worth £5m, I said not to Man Utd.
